Not biological sisters, to be sure. They never even meet! But they are both, in a sense, Viktor's "daughters," both are in their own ways princesses of the coven at different times in its history. They're more sisters in a poetic sense than anything else.

I also think that Sonja and Selene are very alike in personality and their attitude and values even though they have never met each other. They would have made a kickass duo if they did meet! Maybe there is a fanfic somewhere

I suppose if I had to pick, the first one is definitely my favorite. But I am very much in love with the series as a whole.
It's not that he bit her, really. Lucian and Selene aren't Michael's "parents," after all (yuck)! It's more that he "adopted" her; he even says that he loves her like a daughter and it is obvious that Selene loved him like a father.
