i really dont have a clue what a Chao is but I've heard so much about them. they seem like Nightopians to me. but what do i know. lol. im mostly playing my NiGHTS games.

The Chao came from Sonic Adventure 1 & 2. They were like virtual pets that existed in their own little stage. When Journey of Dreams came out they made the Nightopians virtual pets just like them. I think the Nightopians worked better as little background characters. You can do more with Chao.

I'd love to see a game with Chao and Nightopians that you can raise together, they are both in the Sega superstars game at the same time though.

True... though I did enjoy Astal, the Saturn version of Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic Jam and Sonic R... none of them really made headlines like NiGHTS did.
