We include comedy from all of the islands. It's just that there is no proper term to cover the area and 'British comedy' is the popular keyword.

Sorry if I kinda snapped there, but you got to realise that when we irish make something we get very sensitive if it's placed under "British" as we are our own nation, and I'm sure I don't have to get into the whole history of it.
And My hero and Black Books, as far as I know, yes they are bristish comdeies as their were made for the BBC (originally at least) I could be wrong though as I haven't seen those show. I really should see Black Books though as I've heard it's great craic.

I completely understand the cultural tension. Pogroms and battles don't help international relations. But I do think that because England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland have been so socially and historically connected (even intertwined) that it seems impossible to completely isolate one from another.
That's not to dismiss individual identity, even with a (mostly) common modern language.
One group may enjoy celebrating ancient customs and another enjoys chasing a giant cheese down a dangerous incline to awaiting medical staff, but everyone enjoys drinking and good comedy!

Lol no, I'm just teasing but I really don't drink, I do enjoy a good comedy though.
However I'm still not happy having father ted placed in as an "english comedy" but I'm not gonna change your mind so I'll just gonna drop it.

I've heard from a very good Scottish source that it's the Welsh that drink the most, so I in no way support the Irish stereotype.
I have considered organising the gallery like the favs, with Irish, etc. folders, but people seem to have enough trouble finding the 'fan art' category, so please forgive me.
