Description
This was announced while I was in Seattle for the Emerald City Comicon last Friday - it's the cover of Avenging Spider-Man #9 featuring Spidey and the new Captain Marvel.This is the Work in Progress Colors as these were extremely last second - on the whole it works fine but it's a lot of refining.
Oh yeah, I'm drawing the interiors of this 2 parter as well as the covers, written by Kelly Sue DeConnick.
The book ships in July 2012.
Colored in Photoshop CS3 over original lineart penciled by me and inked by Rachel Dodson.

I love this. I love Carol giving the V sign as bullets bounce off of her. Her expression says it all and Spidey...well that's definitely flying 1st class to be able to touch the delectable and stunning Captain Marvel as she is now. Lucky guy.

The talent you both have continues to impress! I know you had absolutely nothing to do with this horrible new design or the idea of stripping away Ms. Marvel's identity and making her yet another Captain Marvel wanna-be, so I can't hold any of that against you. Also the entire concept of pairing Carol and Peter can't work for obvious storytelling reasons. Still, when I put this picture next to the previous Ms. Marvel covers you've done, it makes me sad to see just how bad the new costume looks in comparison. I wish they'd at least kept the long hair - it would have improved her look tenfold!
Having said all that, you Dodsons can take the worst idea and make it look brilliant. Kudos to you!

can't believe I'm saying/writing this but, shouldn't you have made one of the planes to be at least slightly covered by the front figures of ms. marvel and spidey to show perspective and that the planes aren't actually toy sized?
I feel like I'm doing something wrong by criticizing your work but I just don't see it right.

Man, great having you back on a Spider-Man title, even if it's only for a couple issues. The way you draw the female characters with a natural curve and robustness makes you my favorite artist with characters like Black Cat and Mary Jane.
