Oh wow, he really makes his opinion clear on that one. XD
I imagine that NREL has lost a bit of funding under this administration.
Thanks for the quote! :3

He was referencing the "Green New Deal" proposed by Alexandia Ocasio-Cortez, wherein she advocates the elimination of fossil fuels. I don't think Trump is against wind power, but he definitely is against eliminating fossil fuels.
Personally I am in favor of renewable energy sources as part of the mix, but there has been abuse of government subsidies (as in the cases of Solyndra and Tesla.)Β

I don't know enough on the subject to have a personal opinion.
My parents have been life long environmentalists and have worked in renewable energy research, so I have that bias from how I was raised.
I would agree that government subsidies are a dangerous idea ethically regardless of the industry.

The main reason to distrust government subsidies is that the money comes from taxpayers who have lost the ability to decide who gets subsidized. People are forced to trust their elected representatives to make the decisions and these officials are constantly under the influence of lobbyists.
It sounds like your parents are noble people and their work has contributed to the advancement of renewable energy. Unfortunately environmental extremeists have a sinister agenda that has more to do with implementing a socialist agenda than protecting the environment.
I think wind and solar are complements to other forms of energy and in the near future they will be commonplace.
