Back Story:

The origins of Ashanti's suit as well as her bloodline and even her country are all tied together to ancient times.  Back when mankind lived in caves and hunted to survive.  In the heart of what would become the African continent a space fairing species landed to seek shelter from their enemies on this small primitive garden world.  The primitive peoples of the area were inquisitive and frightened but soon came to trust the aliens as the started to care after the humans like a shepherd watches after their sheep.  The leader of these aliens took a very caring and protective of the people and the native black lions that were unique to that area of the jungle.  As the aliens were a very long lived species, their time on Earth was long in relative terms for the humans.  Several generations came and went and the aliens helped them develop as a people.  Guiding them to form a society, providing security, teaching them more ways of crafting and about the basic elements, eventually leading to constructing homes and cities far in advance of other societies in ancient earth.

As time passed Tukara became more and more isolated as human societies expanded and fell only to be replaced by another major power.  During the height of the Egyptian rule over the known world, the malevolent Aliens that were seeking the beings that had cultivated the Tukaran people arrived on earth and began their war again.  Over time the violent visitors were successful, but the tolls on both sides were great.  The final battle consisted of one remaining being of each species and the humans that they had following them.  While one species promised the Takaran people prosperity and knowledge over time, the other beings promised conquest and more immediate advancements should humans fight for them.  Upon its demise, the last remaining alien passed on it's bio organic armor to the leader of the Takaran people and in a moment of surprise and shock, he slew the other being.  That faction's general, having seen the Tukaran chieftain survive the bonding process, stole the similar armor from the still dying alien in front of him and swore that this war would never end.

Over time the country of Tukara remained in isolation, only its people and their sworn enemies knew of its location let alone its existence.  Having several hundred years head start in advancement as well as backwards engineering what remained of the alien technology, Tukara became a rare jewel hidden away.  As the armor and title of Lion was passed throughout the royal bloodline, it most recently has been passed on to Ashanti.  The daughter and only child of former king Khari who died unexpectedly along with his wife of a rare illness.  There are rumors still that they were poisoned somehow by spies from the Lionsbane people but this has never been confirmed.  Ashanti had been granted special privileges as the daughter of the king and had been allowed to spend time outside of their kingdom.  Only she and a few others ever chose to leave Tukara for fear that it would somehow be discovered one day.  As a child, Ashanti had always dreamed of seeing the ocean and as a young woman of nineteen years she finally exercised her right to leave the country with a small escort with the sole purpose of viewing the ocean.  While on a secluded beach on the coast of Ghana, Ashanti found much more beauty at the ocean than she ever imagined.  It was there she met a young woman just one year her younger named Nanyanika Kanda.  They spoke past sunset and nearly until sunrise.  They connected instantly and when Ashanti's personal bodyguard strongly recommended that it was far past time for them to return home, Ashanti refused to leave without her new friend.  After much deliberation, the guards started talking to her as a child mostly because they feared failing their King.  Ashanti grabbed Naya's hand and interlaced her fingers.  Then she pointed her finger at her escort and commanded them as their future Queen that they would obey her command and allow her new friend to come with them.

Once back in Tukara; Ashanti, Naya and their escort appeared before the King's throne and Ashanti pleaded with her father to allow her new friend to stay.  Citing that due to her strict upbringing she never was afforded the luxury of friends.  She argued eloquently and ferociously but her father was having none of it until his wife gently stepped forward and placed her hand on her husband's shoulder and said softly.  "Your little cub has claws like you."  This made the King realize that he was no longer speaking with that little girl that used to run around the palace chasing lion cubs, but a grown woman.  He stayed his hand and changed his stance completely and allowed Naya to stay and declared her a "daughter of Tukara" meaning she had every right as any citizen.  Over time Ashanti and Naya's relationship blossomed into much more than merely friends.  An extremely strong and deep emotional bond formed between them.  Naya revealed to Ashanti that like Ashanti had been much more than what she appeared when they first met, Naya too had secrets.  Secrets and powers.  As their relationship continued to grow and strengthen for about three years, the two were snuggled close for some warmth on a chilly night on the balcony of the princess' quarters high above the city nation.  There was a meteor shower that night and Naya asked Ashanti if she had ever seen anything so beautiful.  Ashanti surprised even herself when she uttered one word.  "You."  They sat there in a still quiet.  Both of them a little shocked by the confession.  Eventually their faces drew closer together until they both just gave in and kissed each other.  Ashanti had kissed a would be suitor when she was younger, but that was completely different.  This was more.  There was emotion and connection and understanding.  The kiss lengthened as Naya turned into Ashanti's body a bit more.  Before the meteor shower ended the two women were lost passionately in each other's embrace completely accepting the new dimension to their evolving relationship.

The next few years passed blissfully in Tukara until the royal family save Ashanti were found dead from an apparent extremely lethal and contagious virus.  It was surmised that one of the guards had contracted the disease while escorting the newly formed Tukaran ambassador council to the United Nations.  Many believed that the King's decision to reach out to the rest of the world a mistake and this only fed the panic and fear mongering.  Ashanti was only spared because she and Naya had snuck away deep inside the rain forest that was adjacent to the kingdom.  Noone guessed as to what the two young women were doing there, only that they seemed to disappear there in increasingly frequency.  Upon their return, Ashanti was devastated to learn that her family and many of the guards and counselors that had watched her grow up were all dead.  The shock of their deaths was quickly replaced with the incredible weight of the duties and pressures of being the Queen of the Tukaran people.  Their entire leadership structure had been wiped out and it was to Ashanti they all looked for strength and guidance.  The responsabilites accompanying the crown and the sole heir of the royal bloodline were seemingly not enough as their grew rumors and whispers that the future of Tukara was doomed and that their enemies would take them over once Ashanti was dead because there would be no heir.  It was common knowledge by then that Ashanti was romantically involved with Naya and that as such, there would be no heir.  One night after having secluded herself for over a week from anyone's counsel including Naya's, she summoned Naya to her quarters.  Naya eagerly went to her but her heart was broken when Ashanti told her that she could no longer follow her heart or her desires.  Her position as Queen, and duties as the Lioness had to be to her people first are foremost.  After much back and forth the two women decided it was best for Naya to return to the outside world for a while.  Until a time they no longer burned for each other as they did now.  Ashanti told Naya that she would always be welcomed in Tukara but that she had to be a Queen now.  She had to be the Lioness for her people.  The needs of the Tukaran people had to come first.  Ashanti pushed back all her emotions as she stood tall when she said this.  Naya was in tears but walked away.  Her love for Ashanti drove her to respect her wishes no matter how much it hurt her.  Halfway out the door Naya turned back and said through held back tears "Never forget that YOU are one of the Takaran people...your needs count too."  Naya looked back and saw that Ashanti had already turned her back to her and didn't turn around at the sound of Naya's words.  After the door closed shut, Ashanti let go all of her emotions and broke down, falling to her knees and hugging the very same bench on which she and Naya shared that first kiss.  She wept bitterly into the night as she finally let herself feel all the pain of what she had just given up.

The following years Queen Ashanti established her reign over Tukara and promised to bring the dream her father had started into reality.  She personally resumed negotiations with the United Nations and worked to bring Tukara into the international scene but had still kept its borders closed to outsiders.  Seeing this as a weakness, the Lionsbane tribe started making small attacks towards Tukara and in turn, Ashanti filled her duty as the Lioness and donned the armor of her ancestors and protected her people personally, fighting off these attackers and terrorists.  Pursuing one such group, the Lioness chased the mercenaries to northern Ghana where she found two surprises.  The Lionsbane tribe was apparently working to perfect gene splicing with what alien technology they had scavenged over time and had created Panther and Tiger half-breeds with humans.  During a tough fight with one such test subject, her second surprise arrived in the form of the heroine Sparrowhawk descending into the camp.  She had been tracking down smuggles shipments of biotech from the United States and knew that whomever was smuggling that grade of biotech was not trying to cure diseases.  Sparrowhawk and Lioness fought side by side and defeated the beasts and mercenaries but not before a large truck with a few test subjects and supplies drove off.  Lioness instantly recognized Sparrowhawk as Naya and Naya of course knew that Lioness was Ashanti.  The two reconciled but remained both emotionally and physically distant.  Not out of lack of desire, for that fire still burned hotter than molten steel, but out of desire to respect what had to be.  Lioness gave Sparrowhawk one of the palace communicators and asked her to be willing to be on call should Tukara need her help again.  These new breed of mutants might prove to be a challenge too great for just her and the Tukaran guard.  Sparrowhawk gladly accepted and then surprised Ashanti by cordially bowing before her friend and ex-lover with all due deference and said "Of course, my Queen."  Naya had no spite or anger in her tone.  Just pure respect and love for Ashanti.  And Ashanti knew it.  Because she still had nothing but respect and love for Naya.

Powers:

Skilled Fighter - Lioness has trained to be a warrior queen from a young age.  Her fighting prowess is second to none in all of Africa.  She has trained and beaten several martial arts masters from around the world.  While most of her powers are derived from the suit, her fighting abilities are her own.

Alien Bio Organic Suit - The suit she wears is of ancient alien origin and grants her many benefits.  While wearing it, she is impervious to nearly all physical trauma and attacks.  While she can be knocked down and pushed back, the suit absorbs nearly all the attacks and as such, no physical harm comes to her.  The longer it is bonded to the user, the user also gains an increased life span, slowed aging rate and immunity to disease as their bodies heal very rapidly.

Alien Bio Organic Staff - The weapon of each bearer adapts to fit the user.  While her father's weapon was an expertly balanced long sword, Ashanti's weapon has taken the form of a staff.  She feels this is an outward reflection of her own hatred of murder as she feels no matter what, taking a life should never be an option.

Weaknesses:

Human - When Ashanti is not wearing her suit, she is just as vulnerable as any normal human.

Energy/Magic - While her suit protects her from major injury, high enough power of certain energy types as well as powerful dark magic can injure her.

Poisons/Toxins - Her physiology has been accelerated to aid in healing from injuries quickly, but potent enough amounts of gasses/toxins can effect her.  However extremely high amounts are required.

Alien Bio Organic Suit - While her suit has been proven to be impervious to any and all types of attacks from weapons made on earth, the suit can be punctured by items made of the same alien bio-organic metal.

Looks like everything about this depiction is emulating "The Winter Soldier" from promotional material for that movie but slightly altered such as holding a staff and not a firearm with far more glare from tha sun on a more upright angle than a from-tha-floor angle|

Great character and backstory.
I hope we the viewers will see more of her.

PS: I want to ask you something about her Alien Bio Organic Suit.
How her battlesuit can protect her uncovered and exposed parts of her body (her neck area and her head)?
If one of these unprotected parts of her body takes a lethal hit she will not get hurt or worse?
Or, her battlesuit can automatically cover and seal the exposed parts of her body when she is in the battle? I only ask of pure curiosity.

Thanks, glad you like her!

The suit can cover/seal up to the top of her neck.  Her head is exposed unless she wears a helmet in addition, but that would not be made of the same alien tech.

You are welcome.
Let's hope that her enemies will not exploit that opening and use it as a main weekness against her. And with all the resources in her disposal she could create a very well
(formfitting) Alien Bio Organic Helmet based on the same biotech as her rest battlesuit. Or, she could upgraded her battlesuit so when she wears her battlesuit it can formed into a helmet to protect her when she is under the water and hazardous and poisonous gases. Just saying.

Glad you like her!

Very nice write up here for Ashanti, though the part with Naya breaks my heart, for obvious reasons not mentionable here..

Yeah.  It's a bit of a tragedy.  The death of her family also stole her love away from her as she has the incredible burden of leadership and continuing the bloodline.

The needs of the many bit

I'm glad you like Ashanti's bio!

Yeah, there's definitely a strong connection to a certain character in specific here but want to spin it enough to make her/the idea unique.  Glad I've pulled it off at least to an agreeable amount
