Description
Well, I think this piece is done. It's an artwork for a fight game demo we are doing for the final exam at school. It will be a nightmare to animate =____=
So, Tikitkah is a female humanoid kangaroo ( I know, she doesn't look like a kangaroo ^^ ) living on the arid world Sanarian IV. Her race is called the Marsupian ( original, isn't ? ).
She will fight with a stupid weapon, a zombie arm that she will use as a club...

What programs/methods/practices do you use for your line art? I utterly love the style of your lines.

It's just Photoshop and a lot of patience ^^. First I draw a rough drawing with gray our blue line ( or lowering the transparency of the layer ), then I draw on top with another layer in black and I clean the lines with the eraser, because I found more easy to erase than to draw a clean line. I have a Wacom tablet of course...
If you want you can try a plugin like "lazy mouse" which helps to do clean lines, but I don't like it because it slows down the move.

The plugin won't work for me because I have a Mac but thank you for the suggestion anyway!
And thank you for your advice, I really appreciate it =] I'll definitely try that out. Thanks!

I absolutely love this. =3 And the fact that you do not use vector is all the more grand! Excellente!

Out of curiosity, did you ink this traditionally or digitally?

Digitally. I zoom really close to clean my line, 'cause I don't like vector ^^.

Thanks for the reply. I've been fighting with my own work and I never know if I like inking digitally or traditionally better.

I used to do traditionnal inking some years ago ( then I took an arrow in the knee ), but I prefer to do it with photoshop. I don't even draw on paper anymore ^^.

Making the transition is difficult if I do say so myself.

Autodesk Maya. Our teacher made a game engine and we can only export from Maya to the engine.

It's a 2D painting. I will do it in 3D now.

That's cool, our classes are pretty lame hahaha we have to animate things like Boog from Open Season or Elliot or that one red head dude from Ratatuoli (how the eff do you spell that??)

Hey, it's embracing consumerism ala racy material and clichΓ© elements, so by all means go for it. You'll prolly pass with flying colors

I love kangaroos! And it's so rare to find them in anthro form in art. This is definitely an exceptional piece and deserves to be a Daily Deviation! I especially love her markings and the "tribal" feel you gave to her

Not at all, just take a good brush and draw random spirals until it looks good ^^.

You did really well in shading and making her belieable. I hope animating goes well, this seems like it would be difficult.

Yep, we can choose game, web, press, 3D or 2D animation and modeling... It's a computer graphics school.

It's really complicated to do a game. You could try to join a community developing mods or free games to learn ( open Outcast, mods for Skyrim or Oblivion... there are a lot of community )

The tail and head look perfectly kangaroo-like, as do her toes. Love the aboriginal tribal bodypaint/tattoos as well!
This is just brilliant and beautiful!
I was just wondering if a modified bullroarer would be more appropriate as her weapon, given her tribal roots - plus it gives her some neat sound effects, and you can riff on Scorpion from Mortal Kombat (I know, bullroarers don't really do that, but it's a fighting game) as well as be a neat "block" - akin to the old Marvel trope of spinning your weapon in a circle hard enough to bounce enemy attacks.

Nice idea, but too complicated to program and animate for us ^^. We have to avoid things like strings... First I thought to use the puppet like a bullroarer but our programmers can't do it ^^.
