sweet shot

btw - how do you alter an image - but still retain the info (shutter speed, f.stop ect.) - every time i edit an image and save it i loose this info

please help

Thank you, and thanks for the !

I don't usually have any problem keeping the EXIF info when I edit an image. I use Photoshop, and as long as I keep the filename the same, the EXIF stays. It becomes lost if I use other programs like PhotoStitch or Neat Image though. When that happens, I open the original image, resize it to the dimensions of the edited image, paste the edited image on top of the original as a new layer, merge the layers, and then save it. Hope this helps!

TSVN In reply to tfavretto [2007-04-12 03:34:11 +0000 UTC]

oh, ok - thanks for that - it was helpful

does this mean that you loose the original file though when you save it

tfavretto In reply to TSVN [2007-04-13 19:23:07 +0000 UTC]

Well yes, but that's why I always work with copies of my files rather than the actual original images.

what program do you use to stitch your photos? great pictures all the time, and I just wanted to know how it's done.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tfavretto In reply to v0ld3m0rt [2007-04-05 22:43:16 +0000 UTC]

I usually use Canon PhotoStitch, but sometimes I just do them manually in Photoshop. I've found that for vertical stitches, it's best to do the area around the horizon line manually, but leave anything else to PhotoStitch. So for this one in particular, I stitched the bottom two in PhotoStitch, and then stitched in the top image manually in Photoshop along the horizon line. Oh, and thanks for the !

Tonsatz [2007-04-02 15:21:50 +0000 UTC]

ooo nice. ive been noticing in some of your pictures that put that soft, slightly darker border thing around the photo. it works really well in most of your photos.. i kind of think this one takes away from some of the beauty of the picture.. i dont like how it makes the trees on the sides of the page out of focus. i'd like to see the whole pic in focus.. however i like that the border thing is slightly darker.. is there a way to do it without taking things out of focus?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

tfavretto In reply to Tonsatz [2007-04-05 22:39:34 +0000 UTC]

Well the dark, burned area around the border and the blur effect are two separate things. I intentionally added the blur because it's an effect that I've found just seems to work for me on certain photos, and this was one of them. I've really got no explanation for it other than that, I just personally think it adds to the photo.
