Description
The sound of the entrance to the Tokotas’ Holding Quarters was easily the loudest thing in the blanket of dark silence. Following it was a bobbing light and the sound of footsteps.
Walking into the place where her Tokotas slept, Rosemarie couldn’t help but smile at the sound of rustling beasts as she sat down the lamp she carried. Turning, the young women moved to the tack room. A while in there, and then she returned; holding a simple saddle and mouth bit for riding. At the presence of the items, the Tokotas once again started to move restlessly and the sound of annoyance came from Valore’s bedding.
“Relax boy, you have done your share. I am taking someone else out tonight.” Rose grinned, holding back her laughter as the Tokota gave a purr of satisfaction. Her attention than turned away as she picked up the lamp and made her way to the bedding where none other than Alanah lay. The bright blue eyes turned on her, and Rosemarie offered the timid female a gentle smile. “Hello girl, ready to come with me for a little night ride?”
The Tokota seemed nervous, but gave a small snort of approval and stood. Moving towards Rose, the tokota easily showed her status, submissive, all too well with her tail and head lowered.
Giving a nod to show the tokota that she was doing good, Rose moved over and laid the saddle over the cream female’s back before sliding the mouth bit onto her muzzle. Once she was sure the tack was in the right place and comfortable on Alanah, Rosemarie flipped onto the saddle and grabbed the reins. With a flick, Alanah headed out of the holding area; giving Rose only a split second to close the doors before the two headed off into the cold wilderness of Alaska.
The traveling was not the greatest as the cold, crisp air seemed to want to fight them the whole way. But, after a while, Rosemarie stopped and gave the halter a small jerk to let Alanah know they were at their destination.
Blue eyes blinked as she turned her head on her handler in confusion, but stayed quiet and didn’t question the human’s methods.
As Alanah watched her handler dismount and move the reins to dangle from her halter, Alanah was confused as she was signaled to lay down- however the Toko did as told.
Laying down, the blue eyes didn’t leave Rosemarie as the human settled herself at Alanah’s rump and looked upward. This only confused the Tokota even more until the female’s caught sight of the lights starting to appear above.
Blinking at this, Alanah relaxed. Nothing bad was happening, Rose was just focusing her night time activities around the Aura. A common, and comforting thing for the female took.
“So beautiful isn’t it?”
The hitch pitched chatter of the human took Alanah off guard and toko turned her gaze back to the her handler. It took a bit, but she slowly pieced the words together. When this was complete, the female slowly turned her gave up to the aura above. She guessed her handler was right, it was beautiful, wasn’t it?
