Description
So if I was going to make my own dragon game, this is what some of the dragons would look like. After Feesh announced on the Arokai livestream that she was taking dragons out of Arokai because of the "hype" and because she couldn't make a dragon everyone was happy with, I thought I'd like to try my hand at designing a game all about dragons, and their near-relatives. Namely, wyrms, wyverns, drakes, amphitheatres, salamandres, and gargoyles. This world's prey would be supposedly filled with other mythical creatures portrayed as less sentient to serve as the dragons' prey--such as unicorns, pegasi, phoenixes, perytons, so on, so forth. Of course there wouldn't be enough of these to constitute an entire ecosystem, so there'd be normal animals as well to fill in the gaps. I'm still working it out. Please note that apparently Feesh has done a one-eighty and decided to put dragons back in the game. And if you haven't read this whole description and go off ranting about no dragons, it's your own fault.
Like FH and Arokai, I'd like this game to be largely RP-based. There are certain hierarchies and customs I'd prefer to set in stone myself, just outline the basic culture, really, and then let players run with the world I've put them into and build their own societies out of scratch. Sort of like humans have already done in real life. Just with dragons and their relatives.
Five types of dragons are shown here as sort of basic templates I'd base the rest of the customization options off of, as well as two drakes and an amphitheatre.
The first dragon is what would be a "Common Dragon". They have somewhat impressive scale crests that grow and accumulate more scales with age and prowess. They have standard magic and physical abilities that can be enhanced with effort, like any other ability.
Beside that is a "Snubsnout" common dragon. Snubsnouts have shorter everything, in essence--think of them as "dwarf" dragons. They're generally about half the size of a standard Common dragon, with shorter bodies, shorter legs, shorter wingspans, etc. Snubsnouts are widely considered to be an inferior subrace of dragon, and if you were to select this race, you'd get the short end of the stick from most NPCs. Unfair, you say? Only if you let it be.
Below is the Highborn Dragon and the Royal Guard dragon. Highborns have much, much more magic than Commons, much more elaborate headcrests, six to four wings instead of the standard two, longer tails, slimmer bodies, and are more agile. However, they lack in the muscle department.
Royal Guard dragons start off as either Commons, Snubs, or are very rarely actually born. Dragons such as the Royal Guards are the sorts of dragons that alter themselves--or are helped by others--through magic. Royal Guard dragons are altered for the purpose of becoming physically stronger and semi-indestructible. In exchange for these transformations, these dragons remain indentured to the Highborns, who provide them with the needed magic, for an indefinite amount of time. A Royal Guard dragon who proves incapable of protecting their "master" or commits a crime will find themselves in the Colosseum. Their headcrests are notably different from the others' in that they occupy most of the chin region of the face--which often shields the vulnerable gap in armoured scales where the head and neck join. This would be considered a tank class.
The last dragon is what is typically called an "Eastern" dragon. These rely almost entirely on magic to fly as they have no wings, and their magic is often so dense and potent that it crystallizes at a young age into a smooth sphere that hovers about them and follows them like a duckling(when among company, Easterns may grip their magic in a foreclaw to keep it from investigating other spheres and accidentally causing any magical chaos. Spheres can also accidentally warp any creature lacking in magic that gets too close. This is why there are some paintings of Eastern dragons holding something like a large pearl or opal. They likely did so to protect the portraitist from magical contamination. Or to appear more interesting.)
That leaves the two drakes and the amphitheatre, which largely speak for themselves. In this universe the term "drake" applies broadly to a sort of wingless dragon, though drakes in general can do neither magic nor breathe fire. Their greatest abilites are stealth, speed, agility, and legs long enough to aid them in leaping across small canyons. Not flight, by a long shot, but still pretty dang far. The other drake, beneath the Eastern, is the head of a bipedal drake that runs on two legs instead of four. Drakes are closely related to Easterns, obviously, yet the bipedal drake has no tail. Instead, it has a pair of devolved, largely vestigal buttwings that behave as a tail.
And then the ampitheatre. Amphitheatres, as far as sentience goes, have a more primtive thought process. They are capable of speech to an extent, and act much more on instinct than most of the others. An amphitheatre is easy enough to befriend as long as you keep it well fed and out of range of the venomous fangs when it's feeling testy, and may follow a dragon around like a stray dog. If there's a particularly large, freshly killed buck in the bargain, you may even convince them to fight for you! If not, though, they tend to retreat and watch the battle from a distance while you take care of the dirty work.
PVP would be available in some places, and under certain conditions--like if another player steals your prey. Beyond that, battles would mostly be fought with prey or monsters.
That's as far as I've thought ahead, mostly, and I think I'd let players work things out after that.

These are awesome looking!
I didn't know Superfeesh was even considering dragons, but I'm sure they'll be great, whatever she chooses them to look like ^_^

Thanks. I really enjoy the idea, and I'm looking forward to being able to play as a dragon!
If I end up liking this idea I have too much, I'm thinking about at least building an rp world, whether the game itself would be possible or not.
