That's because the Malays joined the Siam Kingdom so they were kept safe from the colonization in Oceania.
There wasn't much colonialism in the SW universe.

Yeah, and I guess Johor and Melaka would be two of the big superpowers in Malaya because they don't have the Portuguese, Brits, Bugis and V.O.C to ruin it. And Pulau Pinang would be a huge naval and air base for both Siam and Malaya for its strategic location between india and china. And don't forget, Johor are known to be Nicknamed as pirates for their bravery against British invaders. Religion wise though, malays would definitely be adab melayu and language would be melayu lama (old malay) and the country's name would be changed to the Malayan Sovereignty

Islam doesn't exist in the SW universe unfortunately, neither do the other two Abrahamic religions, they all got wiped out by Neuroi right at the moment of their inception, Judea was destroyed by Neoroi right around the time Jesus was there effectively destroying Judaism and Christianity. And the Islam was destroyed by several Neuroi attacks in the Middle East right as it was begining its expansion in the 600s, this information is canon as it is shown in the SW timeline.
It makes sense as there is NO WAY Witches would be able to exist in a world dominated by these three religions, they would have burned or stone them.
So the Malay practice the same religion Siamese and Madjapahits do, Buddhism.

Whoops, I think I mixed up my adab and adat. Adab melayu definitely follows Islamic teachings while adat resam or adat-istiadat completely differs from it. Adat resam is old malay traditional beliefs that is mixed with Chinese, Siamese and Indian beliefs. I know that in the SW world Islam doesn't exist but malays have their own beliefs, and don't worry, the witches won't get burned stoned, since neuroi existed a long time ago, adat resam would be based around the witch tradition. Adat resam also heavily practice khurafat (art of magic)

Well, it's hard to explain now, but I wanted to make an SW crossover with Armoured Warfare's World on Fire (read it if you have the time) where a group of PMCs known by the ISD (International Security Department) as the 155th Rapid Deployment Force equipped with modern MBTs and AFVs was somehow transported to the SW universe. When they first arrive, they were shocked by the fact that they were not just sent back to 1944 and have little chance of getting back, but to a completely different dimension and timeline, where Germans, Italians and Japanese are allies and really young girls without pants, flying with things called striker units and have the ability to use magic, are fighting an alien race known as Neuroi that can spam laser beams. But that's just the least of their problems since they're packing advanced weaponry and can kill Neurois more effectively, a certain someone (Trevor Maloney) wants to use the weapons for their own gain. Now they have to fight not just Neurois but also power hungry assholes. Whelp, I guess that is it. Things might change though, I'm gonna see how things are.

It'd be kind of hard to have Malasya in the SW they aren't unified or big enough to deal with either Siam or The Madjapahit Empire...so one of them was going to eventually seize it, and considering Thailand in real life HAS had a good control of the peninsula in the 1400s, it'd make sense they would be the ones who would ultimately hold control of the peninsula.
Eventually they made a deal so they could have autonomous sovereing of the peninsula and have a place to settle and big presence within the Kingdom.
So that's my train of thought,

I have no problem with it despite the fact that I am a Malaysian and I know how well Siamese control was on the Malay Peninsular.
