Siblings: Kopa and Kiara
Mate: Rani
Children: Yuvan and Chaniya
Personality: Kind, hardworking, serious, calm, loyal, fierce, intelligent
Kion was the youngest child of Simba and Nala and leader of the Lion Guard. While most lions joined the Lion Guard as teens, Kion was appointed at a young age since the Pridelands had been devoid of a guard for an entire generation and because trouble was brewing in the Outlands, so Simba was desperate to assemble a team. So Kion found his teammates, but much to Simba's dismay, they weren't lions. However, Kion and his guard ended up proving themselves as worthy protectors of the Pridelands. Being a young cub, Kion is still a bit reckless and doesn't always make smart choices as guard leader. However, he grows into his role and matures into a strong, capable leader.
When he's a teen, Kion gets into a scuff with an Outlander named Vitani, and he gets a scar on his eye as a result. Afraid that this wound will make him become like his infamous great-uncle Scar, Kion and his guard journey to the Tree of Life to get the wound healed. There, he meets Princess Rani, though Rani is suspicious about Kion because of his scar. Kion does get his injury treated, but he is dismayed to learn the scar is permanent. He sulks near the tree and is comforted by Rani, who realizes Kion's scars don't define him and begins to see him in a new light. That night, Rani's grandmother Queen Janna dies, and Rani is coronated as queen the next day. Kion and his group stayed back a while to help the Night Pride during this new transition, and Kion would have been lying if he said he wasn't beginning to fall for Rani. Much to his delight, Rani felt the same, and eventually she asked him to be her king. However, an outbreak of war back in the Pridelands beckoned Kion to return home.
Eventually, Kion did go back to the Tree of Life to marry Rani, but since they married so young and on such an impulse, their relationship was quite strained at first. They couldn't agree on anything, and eventually it got to the point where Kion decided to temporarily leave and go to the Pridelands to reflect for a bit. However, being away from Rani showed him how much he loved her, and so he headed back to the Tree of Life promising Rani that whatever happened, they would work it out. Eventually their marriage did mend, and they had two cubs together.
