Broken down like a mirror smashed to pieces

this piece was made based on a big part in my childhood which was spent in foster care. a lot of people think there aren't any horrors being in foster care but there's a lot that people don't see because of the lies that are told and the fear a lot of children have and are to afraid to speak out or some adults just wont listen, that's not the case for everyone. but for me it was.
the above lyrics are "no love" by simple plan, i thought it screamed all the things i used to feel being in foster care.
Done in sketchbook pro6, on one layer, using a wacom bamboo tablet.

I myself have recently started doing realistic portraits and I have a fairly good idea of the amount of patience, time and effort you have to put in it especially doing the hairs which are lovely by the way.
The hairs are drawn great which I am still struggling with, the eyes are haunting and sad conveying the right emotions.
I feel the distance between the nose and lips are a little more and looks unbalanced and the lips could be further improved from both sides where the two lips meet. I was going to suggest taking a picture reference, but since you already used one and the link is not available, I can assume that may be the child in the picture also had that gap between her nose and lips.
Other than that a brilliant piece.

After reading your description and seeing this artwork, I'm starting to feel sorry for you. Not only am I an only child, but I grew up not knowing about "foster care". But if I did, and if I'd met you, I would've begged my parents to make you my adopted sister. Okay, now on to the artwork itself. I think it's very beautiful and realistic-looking. I really like the facial expression you gave her, especially the flowing tears. And judging from her mess-up hair and lack of clothing, it looks like her foster parent doesn't like her very much. Thanks, and it's okay though. Had I not went through it I wouldn't have gained the insight I have
of other children and the fact that not every person who smiles is a good person. I also would never
have met my husband had I not have went through any of the bs. So in a way it was also like a blessing
in disguise.

That is just what I feel when I was bullied in school and being surrounded by drugs and alcohol, and almost committed suicide
I was in that state where I had parents they loved us but at the same time they were so influenced with drugs and alcohol, it was violent. And it took a full effect on the 3 of us.
Now This picture is for real This reminds me of the song The Kids Aren't Right by The Offspring.
But in all that madness I found God and I thank God everyday for waking me up everyday and turned my life around and the people around me to help me along the way.
For without him I wouldn't be the person that I am today. And do things that I never thought it was possible to do despite of my disability.
I miss my mother everyday and we celebrated her birthday this year. And my sisters and I buy clothes for My Father and still love and forgive them. and be thankful to what I have because it could have been worse.
Hopefully I can someday drive like my older sister. ha ha.
