Description
"There's only hate
There's only tears
There's only pain
There is no love here
Oh, so what will you do?
There's only lies
There's only fears
There's only pain
There is no love here
Broken down like a mirror smashed to pieces
You learned the hard way to shut your mouth and smile
If these walls could talk they would have so much to say
'Cause every time you fight the scars are gonna heal but they're never gonna go away.."
this piece was made based on a big part in my childhood which was spent in foster care. a lot of people think there aren't any horrors being in foster care but there's a lot that people don't see because of the lies that are told and the fear a lot of children have and are to afraid to speak out or some adults just wont listen, that's not the case for everyone. but for me it was.
the above lyrics are "no love" by simple plan, i thought it screamed all the things i used to feel being in foster care.
Done in sketchbook pro6, on one layer, using a wacom bamboo tablet.

As a mother, I'm deeply moved by imagery and literature depicting children from unhappy backgrounds [especially those involving any kind of mistreatment or neglect]. I find it hard to believe why a parent wouldn't love their child, whether he/she is fostered or not. All children deserve to grow up happy and loved.
But I digress! Your painting is exquisite and yet so sad [I'm getting a little teary now]. You've really captured her innocence and pain. This looks so realistic, and at first I thought this was painted with traditional media. Also, I agree with about the messed up hair and lack of clothing.
This is a truly beautiful piece of artwork which had a big impact on me. 5/5 Stars!

The wetness in her eyes are mesmerizing. How could someone look at a child and not want to keep and care for them?
Your story is very touching. I've always wanted to foster and adopt children. I personally believe that older children need extra love because aging out of the system can be so abrupt for some people. And if they have the good fortune to go to college, they have no one to come home to or send them packages!
Your art, this piece in particular, evoked so much emotion from me! Success!

no horrors in foster are? I don't agree, it depends on what kind of people your foster people are: a very moving picture and poem for all the explanation you said, including children being too afraid to speak or being ignored by adults

This picture moves me very much. It is very realistic, even though the colours seem to be slightly exaggerated. It is somehow the expression of the emotion, and together with the title and the description it seems to me as if saying: This is how it looks like in reality.
Beautifully done!
