Or just skeksis practice in generalMostly though I just wanted to draw my boy again! With AoR now set to be released in august and my final weeks of college drawing to a close I hope to spend this summer producing content for my no.1 fandom. Hey who knows, maybe by september I'll even be able to draw skeksis without looking up a hundred references and struggling for an hour
Anyway for those not introduced this is my skeksis oc skekYul, he's a blabbermouth and a bit of a coward- he doesn't have an *official* rank yet but at this point I'm thinking he is(or was) the Enforcer. A pretty much useless title that had him a subordinate under skekVar while the latter was still alive, essentially a glorified lieutenant, although it likely didn't stop him boosting about it at every given opportunity
EDIT 07/06/19: I feel like I should update this just to say my skeksis finally has an official rank that contradicts the one previously put here: he is now the skeksis Justiciar! In the high point of the skeksis empire across thra it was his job to dispense justice to the ne'er-do-wells who fell under skeksis rule. In reality, he mostly dealt with the petty crimes emperor skekSo himself could not be arsed to deal with ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Considering himself benevolent as well as an unbiased judge, skekYul would bestow punishments far grander than their corresponding crimes, which he believed would help deter any future troublemakers, in reality this just sowed the seeds of doubt about him very quickly indeed

Hey thanks! I was definitely proud of the lines on this one, I think because they were considerably looser and more free-flowing than my usual style, I certainly need to get back into doing something like this again some time

Ah, I love him! So expressive, and that combination of being a pbnoxious blabbermouth and a coward, while also working as an Enforcer reporting to skekVar, all guarantee he would be immense fun to watch on screen (though less so for the other skeksis

Yep, you're pretty much correct! It works both ways too- sometimes ol' Yul just can't help things slipping out! This is mainly because of how prone he is to going on long winding speeches (guy just loves the sound of his own voice)
As justiciar, he's not only unpopular with the gelflings about the cruel trials he submits so-called criminals to but also the length of said trials. Don't even try getting a yes or no answer out of him- you're gonna be there a while

(I admittedly, don't really have any skeksis OCs (except skekMyu), I mean I used to but I kind of recycled them for an original story. There was skekFee skekFee the Prospector , who was sort of a sona I made at the time to try to fit in more; since when I first joined many other fans seemed to have one of these, but I was never really into rp, ocs or sonas so she ended up being very neglected = she was a neurotic, paranoid, short-tempered and obsessive individual who spent most of her time complaining about everything, hoarding animals and anything else she could get her grubby little hands on, and complaining some more. She has a brother called skekKro (brother as in they were related as urskeks), who was this super serious, calculating and detached individual who specialised in psychology and so was very good at stragedy skekKro the Analyst [in retrospect, I think he resembles skekTek too closely to be truly original <_ 👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Oh I remember briefly seeing skekFee in a few of your old sketchdumps, I also remember a fic featuring her and skekEkt. I think I faved them but I'm not sure whether I was on deviantart at the time so possibly not ;-; Either way she was heaps of fun to read about but I get what you mean by creating a sona just to fit in- personally a lot of my own ocs tend to be self-inserts I've evolved and I'm trying to branch away from that currently I like the sound of skekKro, granted I haven't seen too much of him but he doesn't sound too much like skekTek from what I've heard. SkekTor sounds like a laugh

Hehe, oh my, they probably would! SkekTor himself would have been terrible at keeping secrets as well, and so he should be safe from skekYul's tattle-telling ways, but maybe they would be too similar and find each other unbearable XD Who knows

Oh don't worry, I wasn't trying to imply that you did have a problem. Just saying purely that I'm trying to step away from the self-inserts I've used for so many years. That being said I do like seeing other people's and if they aren't your personal cup of tea that's fine too

Eep, I think I was unclear (heck, Wynn in Outsider was more or less a self-insert when I first wrote her - that story was written originally as a purely self-indulgent rambling thing), I really don't take issue with self-inserts at all, but just like you I tend to try to move away from them for my stories now.
Aw, but you're here now, and definitely not alone, TDC is about to be a fandom taht has been more active than any time since it's creation now

Love the idea of him being a subordinate to Var, working under him really suits his blabbermouth, cowardly personality XD. I can imagine him having annoyed other Skeksis SkekVar turns up and Yul acting superior, as he has 'backup' XD. I don't know if that's how you picture him but I can imagine that just from looking at him here XD.
