Description
Stop saying wolves are so "misunderstood". They're not.Slugs can be so beautiful. They're almost unearthly beautiful.
Leeches have many medicinal purposes - they can relieve headaches and reduce swelling.
However, like all animals, they can be dangerous.

How about hyenas? Most people think they're ugly and they're scavengers. I think they're really cute and lions steal kills from them.

Leeches are among the most revolting things nature has produced. I've heard horrific stories about where they've ended up on people's bodies without even being noticed. Humans seem to naturally be afraid of small, strange things that can easily evade our sight and invaded our personal space. For me, leeches are the quintessential expression of that fear.
I adore them. XP
Really, all exothermic animals are more misunderstood than wolves - and quite a few endothermic ones as well. The planet is home to inumerable exotic and amazing animals, not just fluffy, warm-blooded creatures.
Mammals have as much right to recognition as any of them, but by that same token, those other animals deserve that same recognition.
Wolves are the single most overly romanticized animal on the planet. >_> Whenever a character has animal powers in fiction, it's always something like a wolf or a big cat. We need variety! Gimme a killer flea-man! Or a conch-person. Or just about anything from the deep sea. Or shrews. Some species of shrew have faces that feel like an oldschool Gamera villain.
Really, the most misunderstood animal might well be the dolphin. Happy go lucky Always Lawful Good in media... one of the only creatures that kills for fun in reality.
And roaches... Roaches are GOOD bugs, dammit! They don't spread disease, they clean up after us, they don't have pincers or stingers or spines to hurt us, even if they wanted to. Why are THESE bugs so reviled, when crop-eating caterpillars are appreciated because they turn into colorful butterflies and moths?
Mosquitoes... I will kill almost on sight, but that's for pragmatic reasons. I bear them no ill will for their biology. I'm hesitant to kill ANYTHING, to be honest.
But that's just how we are, I guess... People want to justify why they like an animal, so they'll try to rationalize some way of making it special. Wolves are popular, so people try to romanticize them as smarter than humans, demonized by everyone for a bunch of fairy tales from centuries ago, or just flat out making shit up about them.
As for me... Squamata all the way!
And arachnids. Arachnids are like the scary, cranky veteran uncle to the insect's wacky nuclear family.

Jellyfish are more misunderstood than any of those animals. But did you know there are more mosquito related deaths than wolf related ones?

Lolz. But I really hate flies and mosquitoes. I know flies are useful but do they need to brag about and buzz in our faces? Mosquitoes 'cause how useless they can be besides food for certain animals. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I often hate mosquitoes, but they are really misunderstood and I kind of pity them. I mean, they're just trying to survive!
I hate humans. Its like every time a human dies its a TRAGEDY and people pity them, but its the natural order. Even if they die from like being mauled by a bear, the bear was just hungry or defending its territory. Its not like it isn't sad, but there's always a reason. Like mosquitoes are just eating....
I suggest:
1. Sharks, of course. Most species dislike the taste of human flesh, and usually only attack because 1. Surfboards happen to look like seals, or the more often option 2. Sharks feel WITH their mouths, therefore are simply trying to figure out what a humans is. People are all like 'Dolphins are sooooo cute' but a dolphin is like a gorilla: though very intelligent, it can kill a human. Did you know that dolphins can actually attack and kill sharks, often in gangs (though usually just defensive)?
2. Bees, Wasps, Yellow Jackets, and Hornets. Seriously, what would you eat without bees? I mean, there are a couple other pollinators (certain birds and bats, mosquitoes, etc) but they still do most of it. A large dog (though most dogs are tamed, obviously), can rip off a limb. A bee has a little sting. Unless you're allergic, it's NOT DANGEROUS one bit. Getting shots at the doctors is about the same. And it's not like they sting a lot. Only when defending their territory, nest, and/or queen do they sting people. As usual, its JUST DEFENSE. If a giant person came walking into your home, eating all of your food, disrupting your king or whatever, and smashing everything, wouldn't YOU attack them, preferably with something sharp?
3. Mice, Rats, Other rodents. Lots of people like them, so they aren't 'as' misunderstood, but still. People tend to think of them as gross. Jeez, they're like like little... dogs. They're just another furry animal adapted to live in cities- because WE put out food and warms shelter. Lower on the 'misunderstood' scale, but high enough to be mentioned.
4. Pigeons. Point blank. People call them 'flying rats'. Seriously, what's wrong with them? They're even closely related to the ROCK DOVE, and everybody LURVS doves. Yet everyone hates pigeons. I personally never understood that. They're just birds adapted to city life. They don't really eat trash, and if they do it's (once again, isn't it strange how much animals strive to survive? *sarcasmplz*) TO SURVIVE. To everyone: Next time you see a pigeon, seriously LOOK at it. They can be really beautiful, all shining in green and purple. There's no point in hating them. If you're worried about disease, just DON'T pick up their feathers and DON'T try to catch them. Personally, I name every pigeon I see.
5. Lions, maybe a few other big cats (mountain lions and tigers). What is it with that whole 'big bad lion' thing? Lions aren't that misunderstood, but stop viewing them as the 'big bad predator'. Jeez, a giraffe can kick a lions ass. I'm not even joking. Maybe giraffes with their 'nice' natures are really the misunderstood ones. Like dolphins.
6. Pit bulls (also some like the rottweiler). It's not the dog, it's the OWNER. Owners train them to be like that. They train them (usually) to be afraid of the person if they don't attack or whatever. Sometimes, as dogs are very loyal creatures, they train them so the dog does whatever they want. So shut up about all pit bulls being dangerous. They're pretty much just staffordshire terriers.
7. Alligators. Everybody goes on about how dangerous they are. I watched an animal planet show and people were being attacked. Why? Well maybe it was because the alligators were overpopulating where they had lived and had to move somewhere where there was NO FOOD. And humans probably looked pretty tasty at that point. Everybody was all like 'let's figure out how to stop the attacks!' when they should have been like 'Why the #%*@ was there a baby gator boom?' So shut up about them being simply vicious when they were shoved out of where they had hatched into a place barren of food! Pity the damn things! Or at least don't act all b****y like 'oooooh they're so SCARY!'
8. Roaches. I blame humans for designing such comfortable and convenient houses. Cockroaches in the wild live under the bark of trees. House wall: like tree bark. The end. They get everything they want and you WONDER why they live in your house. Jeez, how about because: One, comfortable living space alike to their original environment (which, by the way, you happened to have chopped down). Two, easy access to food and water. Stop leaving your damn plates and cups everywhere, and your sink full of water! And Three, of course, easy living once again in winter, when your home is completely heated, or at least cozy enough for them. Therefore, it's your fault. I blame you humans. Yeah, I blame a lot of crap on people in general.
9. Eels. I blame TV for saying they're able to electrocute someone. Because as far as I know, they can pretty much shock guppies. But I guess that's not really this kind of 'misunderstood'.
10. Basically any other large predator with big teeth. Just because they have big teeth doesn't make them dangerous. Although I'm not sure this counts... XD
On another note of being misunderstood, stop talking about how dolphins, giraffes, badgers, and hippos are all cute and sweet. Dolphins, giraffes, and hippos could all whoop your a$$ and badgers can be really bad a$$. >.>
And also, I don't blame any animal for killing a human. I blame the human for getting in the way of the animal. -.-

Oh yes. I completely agree with this, especially with the mosquitoes. They are valuable food for the dragonflys and bats, both of which are food for more respected animals in the ecosystem we live in. Mosquitoes are food for the dragonflys, which are food for the bats along with mosquitoes, and the bats are food for the owls, which are very grand and respected birds.
It comes down to this: No mosquitoes, fewer owls.
