The top barrels end is a recoil muzzlebreak.
The small barrel beneath the main one is a laserpointer and the one below that contains a sliding mecanism to compensate recoil even more.

Is it single action only? That 1911 trigger suggest that?

nothing for scale make it a little hard to tell, but it looks like something akin to 45-70, or if scaled, 357 magnum.

357. magnum's really good. They pack quite a kick. I wonder how it will be with ACP rounds.

most acp round are made for automatic actions, they don't work well in revolvers (except for 45 acp with moon clips)

By the looks of it, its possibly 38 special or 357 magnum. Though the bullets appear elongated, its most likely fictional ammo. i think its a 357 mag but as long as a 410 gauge shell

Do you plan on doing further 3D gun designs in the future?
If so, you Sir, get a watch...

hmmm, looks like maybe a .50 Alaskan round
smallest I'd say is a custom .454 Casull round...or it could be a custom .500 magnum round >__>
whatever the caliber it's a badass handgun

I feel stupid... I almost asked "Is it real?"
How does it compensate the recoil though... I like revolvers more than any other type of firearm, but I'm not that much of a gun nut.
By the by... NICE FRIGGIN REVOLVER!

The-5 In reply to DaBauss [2011-11-21 11:57:56 +0000 UTC]
The muzzlebreak uses parts of the gas and propells it in the opposite direction of the muzzle, if that makes any sense for a handgun.
The bottom barrel contains a sliding weight that moves in the other driection as the bullet to compensate this recoil.
I am not realy a gunnut either and thats all just fictionary mechanics.

I being a gun nut, was actually pleased with your design. Your clarification however: is what raises questions. Is this revolver a semi-auto, or is the moving barrel/cylinder assembly just to stifle the recoil? Overall this is a good, and more importantly believable design. Nice job.

When I made this model I did not know about SubD modelling, so this is basically only a lowpoly with chamfered edges. My SubD stuff nowadays takes me way longer

JayBeeDubya [2011-01-13 20:32:22 +0000 UTC]
I love the revolver; it has a very nice looking design to it, especially the top break design! I especially like the under barrel tactical railing and the red fiber optic front sight. The chrome chamber contrasts rather nicely with the black frame, especially the swept back grip. Speaking of, that grip looks very closely like the grip of the PSG-1 sniper rifle from Heckler and Koch
Also, at the end of the barrel, is that a compensator or a tactical barrel in which attachments LIKE a compensator can be added? Or, is the chamber lock in the gas so a silencer can be added, just like the Nagant revolver? Sorry, just curious!
Also, what rounds does that damned thing use? xD
π: 0 β©: 1
The-5 In reply to JayBeeDubya [2011-01-13 22:22:09 +0000 UTC]
Thats a compensator (yeh, barely makes sense with this little notches).
I don't realy think in any existing calibers when making guns, IIRC it was 10mm though

Well, that's what I call "The revolver". I was short of inspiration to draw a scifi design of revolver and I found it!
I want to make a real airsoft revolver and first I have to make it in industrial 3D. I was short of inspiration for a good and sober outer barrel's shape. I wander if you'll be not upset I borrow you the global shape of your outer barrel?

No, thank you sir for your talent . I like this one better than the other one imo and I kinda prefer the swing out reload style than the top break. But that's just my opinion. The other one still looks great though. I like how its double barreled with a blade at the bottom >_>. You should be like a game designer or a gun designer so I can buy this gun XD.
