Description
This was basically practice with a new coloring techique I learned from a tutorial on DA.if you use GIMP you should check this out
Decided to use Screech-Owl
because let's face it he's AWESOME
Yeah and I changed his goggles up a bit. Now they're green!
I feel like this already looks like the way I usually shade, but believe me, the whole process was SO much different than the methods I use. And it turns out a whole lot cleaner than my usual stuff.
Later I am going to reuse the lineart from this and try cell shading.

Nya~~~! Kawaii! ^w^ He loos so.. innocent in this picture! *squees*
I gotta say this is an excellent improvement, and is well done for being done with Gimp. I've only used gimp like.. once? I never got the hang of it and gave up since I was so used to using photoshop.
There are some nifty special effects that Gimp has it has though, but I'm currently saving up for the student edition of the Adobe creative suite package. $350, sounds expensive? Try paying $1600 instead for not being a college student. ^_^;
Yeah, student discounts ROCK ! :3

Thank you! Yeah, that's kind'a what I was going for. lol
Thanks. I've only used photoshop in a classroom for a little while, and I did enjoy it when I knew how to use it. (when my teacher wasn't sucking the life out of it)
Though in my case gimp is easier. But then, it's probably all a matter of which program you pick up first. Since they're so different. A lot of people keep arguing that gimp is just as good, but I'm still not that sure. I mean it's a FREE program! You have to have limitations somewhere!
Daaaang! 0_0 That much? You ARE lucky.

Yeah, we had Gimp on our old computer when we were using Linux instead of Windows for a while. It does have a lot of neat features, some of which Photoshop doesn't have. While I was taking some classes at college, I also noticed that the line tool for CS4 photoshop SUCKS which is why I decided to shell out the $50 for a liscence code to register Paint tool SAI. It has a great and easy to use line art system that I use for 'inking' my comics, not to mention you can rotate the whole canvas to draw at different angles. *sigh* But yeah, I'm saving up for the new photoshop and other programs because there are so many new features and stuff I can't do on my old version. A word of advice though, if you are considering taking college, go for it. It may be pricy for classes and textbooks (ugh the textbooks! They're the most expensive part of the class sometimes! O_O; ) but the price cuts are so cool. I feel bad for independent artists who shy away from buying it because Adobe and other companies demand so much for them.

I really need to check out all the tricks my little program can do.
I probably still don't know half of the stuff it's capable of.(It's a constant learning process for me )
Yeah, I think we were using CS4 in my class as well. Of course I didn't get a lot of time with it, so I don't all of its shortcomings and such.
Though it didn't blow me away that much and the brushes were lame.
(well that could have been easily fixed I geuss) I really wanted to play around with it more when I had acess to my tablet, but I didn't have much cash handy. A friend of mine had offered to copy his program and let me have some of it, but I didn't think that was what you would call "LEGAL" Since he didn't answer me directly when I asked him that, I guessed my assupmtions were ture lol. I'm happy to say that I DIDN'T take him up on his offer because the guilt would have dirven me mad for all of eternity.
Well, college wise I really want to go this cartooning school up Vermont.
Ha,ha! I think one of the main reasons artists are "starving" is that all of the equipment it takes to become an artist costs so darn much.

Ha,ha cool! Well what can I say? Big eyes are just more fun to draw.
Oh yeah, I 'll be definatly fiddling around with this technique for a while. Heck, I used it again on the exact same pic only instead I used cell shading.

Thank ya! Yeah, I thought it did.
They said in the tutorial that you didn't need a tablet to be able to do this! (I barely used mine) But you do have to know how to use the path tool. And you should probably scan in your drawing first.

Well that BITES. T_T Of course....There is a possibility that you could
convince them...If you were a good enough liar perhaps...
Librarin: Hello, how my I help you?
You: I need this *ahem* project scanned for one of my classes.
Librarian: Alright then...(looks it over) T_T This is a drawing of a little hooded man, SHOOTING someone and then raiding they're pockets for a package of gum.
You: Uhh..Yeah! 0_0 It's a um... a "visual aid" for... Sociogly! We're talking about the rise of crime in some parts of the world and how they effect society as a whole!
Librarian: ....
You: I'll....I'll be going now!
LOL

Sounds like too much trouble. I think ill wait till im back home for summer when I have a scanner to use.
