Credit to idiotoftheeast for the original image. It is humorous. That being said... I felt like making this because in all honesty. The whole "Goku is a bad dad." joke has gotten really old and really doesn't reflect the character of the show. Taken at face value, absolutely Goku seems like a bad father. He's a dude that often shirks adult duties for training, he has spent a good deal of his son's life being either dead or absent due to being on another planet, it seems bad. That being said... at least he's shown doing stuff with Gohan. There's still a whole three or four years of his life where it seems there was peace and he was a good dad with the only requirement being Goku couldn't make him into a fighter. Hell they did go out on picnics. Piccolo... Piccolo kidnapped Gohan and put him through grueling training just because he saw a hint of his hidden power. He could've actually trained with the other Dragon Team members in a tenuous alliance but he chose not to, he was outright abusive to a three or four year old. He got better over time because his heart softened to Gohan but he was definitely far from being a dad to him and before anyone says anything about Chi-Chi. Note most of her worst traits are in the anime and that even then she still stands up for her boy on occasion. As for Vegeta here? I say this as a Vegeta fan and with love in my heart...

Vegeta's a dogshit father up until Boo but even then, he's only decent. He's great during Super and GT. Just see the many times in which Vegeta treats his future son like shit, how it's outright said he refused to even hold present Trunks as a baby and more. Vegeta's more present than Goku but that's only because of Bulma and circumstances that kept him grounded on Earth. It wasn't until Boo and later Super and GT where we see he has fully adapted to life on Earth. None of the dudes here are saints but there isn't one best father among all of them.
