This is something I haven't really done in awhile. An actual edit though what's probably different about this is that this is a Power Rangers related edit. So as you all are hopefully aware by now, we unfortunately lost the original Green Power Ranger, Jason David Frank back in November. It was tragic, sudden and honestly just plain sucked. With that in mind, many tribute pieces to the man have come out and I chose to add to it by doing an edit of a comic panel and it's here where I can explain the name. So back in 2013, Bat in the Sun for their popular vote-based versus series Super Power Beat Down decided to pit the White Ranger from MMPR against Scorpion from Mortal Kombat. Now the thing about SPBD is that the majority of the fights are actual live-action fights that are choreographed, filmed and scored and they took advantage of that by having JDF reprise his role as Tommy for this fight. This proved to be very successful and it led to him entering a partnership with BitS which led to him doing another fight 2 years later which was Ryu vs Green Ranger. Now this is where things get interesting because in every fight JDF has shot with BitS? The suits used often had differences from the original MMPR looks. In the case of the White Ranger? There was some extra white and gold padding and details in certain areas though otherwise it was pretty unchanged. The Green Ranger on the other hand got a major redesign which basically incorporated more elements of the Dragonzord into the design such as the extended headfin along with the silver stripe from the Dino Thunder episode Fighting Spirit, a more reptilian scale pattern in the suit, it just overall looked really cool though what was even better was Saban greatly appreciated the design and actually worked with BitS to make this into an official suit design which is often dubbed "Green Ranger V2".

And I've always really loved this take on the outfit, I love personally seeing redesigns like this where someone takes the basic look and really just makes it their own and this one sells that. The way I look at it, the V2 suit is what the Green Ranger would look like just if he was a solo hero first and what was really cool was I really got the sense it was that redesign that kind of inspired PR to experiment with stuff like this such as what we got with Drakkon from the comics, the Ranger Slayer outfit for Kimberly and more and that got me thinking about what a potential Green Ranger V3 might look like if it started incorporating more elements of the Dragonzord into the look. Plus I've been wanting to replace my profile icon on fanfiction for awhile and I wanted it to be of the Green Ranger both as a tribute to JDF and also to kind of reflect how I've recently been coming back into my love of PR and Sentai which has got me thinking about projects I might want to do and I thought this would work. This took a good while but overall I had a blast doing it and I hope you all like it.
