Description
Nightmare ponies, or simply Nightmares are powerful, evil ponies that are corrupted and transformed by the very shadows themselves, being twisted into strong, wicked beings. For the most part, these shadows-or Shadow Forces prefer ponies of great magical ability to corrupt, such as unicorns or alicorns, but they have on occasion 'infected' other ponies as well, including pegasi and earth ponies. Nightmare pegasi and earth ponies are more known to become lackeys however to Nightmare alicorns and unicorns. Most other breeds of ponies seem to be immune to their corruption, such as kelpies, vamponies and so on. It is said ponies are corrupted by the shadows entering their hearts and making them turn dark as night, turning these ponies into ruthless monsters who have no love.
'Curing' a pony is said to be near-impossible and would take no less than opening a corrupted pony's heart to love once more to save them...

With the introduction of the Nightmare Forces and an actual canon for how 'Nightmares' (such as Nightmare Moon and Nightmare Rarity) come about via the MLP comics, I thought it was about time I wrote up a canon for Nightmare Ponies in Eponia as well.
