Notes:
Map of the planet Plant/Vegeta, which has no official images for something like this, meaning I made it all up myself. Scientifically sound or not, I've decided that most of the planet is made of rock or harder minerals and so they have a top layer more like sand than proper soil. The planet is a bit hotter than Earth, so surface water either evaporates into the atmosphere until it's time to rain or the the intense gravity pulls it down, far below the surface. It's due to this that the world has a "subterranean ocean".

The darker color on the map represents the surface areas that contain fairly large amounts of moisture (considering the environment), indicating that the subterranean ocean flows beneath the surface there. The lighter areas are almost pure mineral, though certain types of plants can still survive there by collecting rain or utilizing their their powerful roots to dig deep below the surface to find water pockets.

The lone red splotch in the middle is an area where large amounts of groundwater have been collected, but the ground was currently too solid to allow the water to seep into the ground below. This, and the planet's increased temperature, leads to the lake being kind of like a hot spring. Making that area a bit of an oasis on an otherwise barren world.
