Description
SaibaimenBorn: AGE 718 (created)
Race: Saibaimen
Home: Planet Plant (created)
Occupation: Assistant
Goals: Help, help, help, help! ….Fight!
Bio:
Thanks to the Saiyans' help collecting bulbs, the Tsufruians were able to successfully genetically modify the Plamon to have a more humanoid shape. The resulting engineered creatures are dubbed “Saibaimen” and serve as docile, loyal assistants for domesticated Tsufruian life. Owners simply dig a shallow hole to plant the Saibaimen seeds in the ground, and then sprinkle with a small amount of a special growth-fluid. After a short wait, the creatures sprout from the ground, fully grown. These organisms have a natural lifespan lasting a couple of years before they start to deteriorate and need to be replaced.
However, the Saiyans feel they are being unfairly compensated for their work collecting the Saibaimen bulbs, likening it to slave labor. After a little over 150 years of living in the planet’s badlands, they desire less primitive living conditions. The Tsufruians refuse to let the Saiyans into the technological capital out of fear of their wild transformations. The Saiyans decide that if the Tsufruians won’t oblige, they’ll just take the whole planet by force. So, after a period of relatively peaceful coexistence, a war breaks out between the two races for control of the Planet Plant in AGE 719. Though the Saiyans have greatly multiplied since their arrival, their numbers are still quite small in comparison to the Tsufruian population. The Tsufruians counter the Saiyans’ natural physical advantage with their advanced technology, including medicinal liquid obtained from the planet’s previous inhabitants, powerful handheld blasters, and scout scopes to detect the location of their enemies and allies.
As battles become more intense, the Saibaiman project transitions to biological weapon development. However, while the current iterations are still useful, progress for improvements becomes sluggish when the scientists are unable to increase the creature’s strength in a stable manner. (Unbeknownst to the Tsufruians, who only ever grew their Saibaimen in the less than ideal soil of Planet Plant, the Saibaimen have a special trait that causes their power to fluctuate, within a certain range, based on the nutritional state of the soil they are planted in. The composition of the soil can also affect their appearance.) Despite their warrior biology and impressive strength, the war draws out longer than the Saiyans expected thanks to the Tsufruians' technology. Desperate for help, the Tsufruian king sends a plea for help to the King Cold's Planet Sharks, the organization who helped their ancestors immigrate to the Planet Plant. The planet isn't worth much and Cold assumes there would be little else to gain from working with them again. So the request is given low priority and buried in their increasing job queue.
Notes:
Based on a smaller, cute Saibaiman design from Dragon Ball Online. These more humanoid designs are being used to expand the official lore surrounding the Saibaimen and their upgrades. Also, the years listed here are very much subject to change as Saiyan lore continues to be tweaked in this modern era of the franchise.

The series of submissions labeled under the title of DB Redux are part of a fan rewrite of the official series. Anything that you see in the art or description that varies from the original manga or anime sources is most likely intentional. While I appreciate that you are taking the time to look at my gallery and notice these differences, I do not require a comment on what needs "correcting" because it wasn't "originally like that".
However, if you'd like to discuss these changes, or the project in general, you're welcome to join my DB Redux Discord server for the community members, an early look at finished & WIP character art and links to full battle power lists.
Thank you, and please enjoy!
