The-Dude-L-Bug — I see a Bogus Bee

Description At first glance, this seems like a Bee,
but if you look close you can see the tiny "V" sticking out between it's eyes, identifying it as one of the many species of bee mimic flies.

Eyes and antennae, always give away flies in disguise. Pretty good mimick. The hairs aren't twigged either so it can't be a bee.

Lots of folks don't realize anything about them....they just see the colors, scream & run.

There are some pretty convincing mimicks amongst the flies, fool anyone who doesn't know about them.

For that one, I was using my Canon EOS 7D & the EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro L IS USM.

LOL! Yep, lots of phonies in the insect world.

Beeflys & hoverflys are the most common bee fakes and IMHO they're no less important than the bees themselves. Oh they don't make honey, but their babies are part of an extremely valuable natural defense force for our farms & gardens.
