Description I do enjoy the beauty of flowers, but I'm not that familiar with all their various kinds as I am with insects.
Unfortunately I don't know what these are.
My wife usually puts the little identification tab that comes with the flowers in the pot when she replants...
but the squirrels keep digging in the pots.
The ID for these must have knocked out & been blown away by the wind.

Thank you.

As we were discussing before, this is one of those images where stacking a few shots would have been nice to increase the DOF...
but there was enough of a breeze that doing so would have been difficult.

Well, it would be a close call to have bettered this, Jim. The out-of-focus aspects work very well here. But, breezes are a problem.

Thanks again.

Yeah and unfortunately the higher magnification, the greater even very short motions will impact the image.
Little things like breathing & a heartbeat become problematic.
Your own shadow often gets in the way, so having enough light is another big problem
Which is why I keep the flash on & my shutter at 1/200.

Shooting bugs is even worse as it only takes them a step or 2 for them to completely vanish from the frame...
add to that they rarely take "only" 1 or 2 steps and most move like Speedy Gonzales!
As the bee pic showed, 1/200th still isn't fast enough for things like wings-in-motion though.

You've developed a very high level of skill with these techniques, Jim. I've noticed the breathing issue myself, not only when I try handheld macro, but with bird-in-flight stuff. I have to hold my breath even on a still bird shot.

Cheers

LOL! Yeah, breath control is must.
The really hard part is trying to time the shots between heartbeats.

Assumes you have a heart, Jim!

Well, I'll readily admit I've never seen it, but since I seem to be a living example of species Homo Sapien Sapien I concluded I likely have that particular anatomical feature...
and while they could also all be wrong, my presupposition has been supported by every medical doctor I've ever seen.

If it isn't a heartbeat, then I have a muscle in my chest that's been subject to a fairly regular spasmodic twitching since the day I was born.

Oh! Seems it was just a twitch.
It's stopped now.......
