sorry for the late reply, life has thrown me quite a few curveballs in recent times (there will be a journal up about it soon).   I do indeed. in bright light you can get away with shooting HDRs handheld sometimes, but in low light situations it's pretty much impossible to hold the camera perfectly still long enough to take several exposures.

I really need to start using mine.  I avoid it because it is a bit awkward to be carrying in the field but for longer exposures as opposed to larger apertures it's becoming a necessity.  Good to hear back from you!

I know what you mean . I've got a manfrotto tripod that's fairly lightweight and fits in my camera bag, so while it's a bit bulky it isn't too heavy to carry around at least.

i guess i should just use mine and get used to it.  in the long run i think it'll be an improvement.
