They spin like a huge drill, with their legs being the sharpest point that digs through the ground.

Backstory:

On certain foreign planets where the soil itself is too hard for drill injectors to penetrate the ground, Mint Alabasters' sole purpose comes into play. They were made to replace these drill injectors temporarily by spinning like a top, drilling into the ground, plowing holes for new gems to be created in. This particular Mint Alabaster has been away from homeworld for far too long. Having escaped only because she hated conflict and war of any kind, be it against her own kind or against others. Living peacefully on Earth away from prying eyes, she enjoys her life of solitude and loves dancing. (If she were to collide with the main cast of SU, she would possibly not fight for Earth at all nor would she join them, as the Crystal gems are considered a group of rebels created out of war)
