Beginner Novice Eventing

Marjorie sat in the saddle, Kali snorting and prancing as Ben lead them near the starting box. The small mare was absolutely raring to go. Dressage had come and gone, with not much memorable about it. It really was the boring part of eventing.
"Okay M, most important thing is to make sure you don't micromanage her. Kali knows how to flatten a cross-country course, and you know she won't suddenly slam on the breaks. If you're worried, just push her more and deal with the speed later. It's beginner novice, so they haven't done any mean combinations. And have fun." Mar's head swirled, discarding the information apart from "push". The steward called - 30 seconds. Ben funnelled the roan mare into the start box and stepped away. Mar grinned at the steward.
"Cute little horse. Good luck!"
"Thanks!" Kali quivered underneath her, like a bomb lit at one end.
