Description
Note: this is a HUGE picture. Download to see it full size.Second Note: I use acrylic paint for this tutorial and all my ponies.
The second of my promised tutorials: how to do a full body repaint. This is how I take an already prepared pony bait and make it the color I want to work with. Quite honestly I find a full body repaint a bit of a hassle, but since Hasbro only makes certain colors of ponies it is a necessary thing. You can also dye a pony to make it a different color, but I don't know how to do that. Here's a good tutorial for dying if you're interested. [link]
If you want a tutorial on a specific aspect of customizing, please ask! I'll be hitting the major points (Bait prep, full body repaint, symbol painting, eye painting, rehairing), but anything else will only be posted if requested. Enjoy!

Do you mean acrylic or enamel? The acrylic is the same paint I use just in different bottles.

Here is my first re-ferb! I ended up using spray paint for this one (and did learn a thing or two) and I used a needle and fishing line for the hair (and learned some more). Enjoy!

Wow, that's a lot less than you probably would have needed with acrylics. Is it tacky? It went on nice and smooth!

I put a layer of 'clear coat' and after 24 hours it was soild and smooth (I should have waited longer before doing the hair. The key is to hold the spray can far from the pony and do a few coats to keep from drips.

Just says 'aint' but I figured it was acrylic if you were mixing with water and of course a watercolour paint would wash off the pony too easily.
I'll let you know how my ponies turn out, I just got a whole bunch of them from a thrift shop and they are in a sad, sad state.

this whole pony thing...a LOT harder than it looks. Giggle. I don't have the steady hand that I used to and I'm so used to my digital world where I can just hit 'undo'!!

Ugh, I know. My lines usually end up thicker than originally planned to cover up mistakes.
