My first custom mlp commission, I had a lot of fun working with this one. Commissioned as a christmas gift for the buyer's friend, I was asked to make a zebra pony that also had elements of the friend's sorority displayed in it and with short blond hair. There are a LOT of zebra ponies out there, so I did this one in curly cues to make her as unique as possible. Her eyes are blue with silver eyeshadow, and her cutie mark is a combination of four symbols from the soroity ZTA - the letters ZTA, a blue crown, a silver violet, and the greek word "Themis". All info on Zeta Tau Alpha was gottten from their national website. Her hair is off of a barbie-like doll I bought cheap at Michaels, which I cut and tamed with a little bit of conditioner - as a consequesnce the pony smells quite lovely! She reached her home today, and was well liked.Sorry about the picture quality - I only have use of an icky camera and Seattle weather, so not so much on the natural light.

I definitely like this version of a zebra pony. She's cute. I like that she's not just a plain zebra, but a customized one, what with the blond hair and squiggly stripes and all.

The mane and tail is nice--how did you attach it from the Michael's barbie? Did you restring it or glue?

I snipped the doll's hair close to the head and then made plugs the same way I do with transplants from other ponies: cut off a plug, wet the end, dip it in mod podge and let it dry. Once the mod podge dries I put a dot of hot glue over the glued end so there's anchor on the inside of the pony's body. All the glues do is hold the hair in plug sections - I thread the hair into the head and butt using wire and secure with a little pressure. Tis the way I was taught.
...and that all makes a whole lot more sense when you see it, as opposed to just in words.
