Description

A bit nervously, Andrea stepped into the small meeting room, not sure what she'd find. To her pleasant surprise she discovered Evelyn waiting there, looking quite nervous herself. The two of them, along with their friend Stacey, had known each other since high school, and had always been the best of friends. To find out something happened to Stacey left them dazed, and desperate to find some way to help.

"Oh, good, it's you," said Evelyn shakily. "Sorry, this whole thing with Stacey has me worried. What do you suppose happened to her?"

"No idea," replied Andrea. "She was here early, I know that much, but I can't imagine why she'd run off. Do you think someone with a grudge abducted her or something?"

"The message I got said if I wanted to see her, I should come here, and tell nobody," answered Evelyn, holding up a crumpled note. Andrea immediately produced a similar one. "So it's just about us, huh? Well, we were pretty mean back in school, I have to admit."

"Yeah, but that was five years ago," complained Andrea, "and we were still just kids. I can't imagine anyone trying to get even with us after all this time. Anyway, what--"

At that moment the door opened again and another woman entered, smiling and holding what looked like a bottle of spray disenfectant in her hand. "I wasn't sure you'd show up," snickered the new arrival. "Good, this will be easier than I thought."

"Cassie?" asked Andrea, exchanging glances with her friend. "You? What have you done with Stacey?"

"I should've known," Evelyn went on, shaking her head. "You hated school and all of us, so why would you be involved in planning the reunion? As soon as I saw your name on the committee, I should've known."

"Yes, being part of that made this all so much easier," said Cassie, still smiling. "For one thing, I got to be the one to prepare and serve the punch. That way I could pick and choose who got the special additions. Now that you're here, I'll add the final ingredient." With that, she spritzed a few bursts of disinfectant spray into the air, causing the others to back off nervously. When nothing happened right away, they exchanged glances and clenched their fists angrily.

"What are you talking about?" insisted Andrea. "The note said we could see Stacey if we came here--"

"Oh, yes, of course," Cassie interrupted, reaching into her purse and removing a glasses case. She opened it, dumped out the contents, and held her hand up to the others. To their surprise, instead of a set of reading glasses, they instead saw a tiny, disheveled figure, dressed in the remnants of party attire, the dress having been long since removed. The miniature woman shied away, a hopeless expression on her tiny face. She couldn't be more than three inches high.

"Omigod," Evelyn gasped, staring through her glasses at the miniature woman in Cassie's palm. "Is that...?"

"Yes, it's your good friend Stacey, shrunk down to the size you always made me feel," came the bitter reply. "The company I work for now has done all sorts of amazing research into various chemicals and the like. When I figured out what this one can do, I knew exactly what to do with it. You three bitches tried to ruin my life in school, and now I'm going to ruin yours. You put me through hell, and now you're going to find out what hell really means."

At that, the two other horrified women turned to run for the exit, but by the time they got there, the doorknob was already too high to reach...
