Description Swampert, the mud fish pokemon, is actually an amphibian.  Its base stage, the mudkip, is a small and vulnerable pokemon when alone but succeeds alongside fellow mudkips and marshtomps in a fish "school" fashion or, of course, in the proper care of a pokemon trainer.  Each stage sports fleshy hairy extensions on their face that allow them to feel along the bottom of rivers, lakes and streams, some believe these also allow all forms to breathe underwater when they cannot surface to get a fresh breath of air.

The Swampert is extremely adept at swimming at fast speeds with the use of its large fan-like tail and the flexible movement of its body while the growth over its brows cut the water for ease of motion and stifle the responsiveness of water movement around it allowing the Swampert to sneak up on its prey quite easily.  Surprisingly wild Swamperts are very paternal, choosing to remain with their offspring until mudkips are able to fend for themselves or marshtomps simply leave the water source in search of their own nest.

All forms are also able to walk on land though only marshtomps and swamperts are able to remain away from water sources, and outside of pokeballs, for extended periods.  This is lent to the fact that mudkips have not adapted their mucus glands to support moisture on their skin which comes shortly after they evolve to marshtomps.  While they all have the ability to walk on land they remain mostly quadrupedal, or on all fours, which gives them ease of motion and speed that they would lack if they chose to walk on two; however, they do have the potential to stand on their hindquarters when faced with foes.

Ah, swampert, though not one of my absolute favorite pokemon was still fun to draw out!
