Another commission for the awesome LynthiaReddawn of his lovely OC Lynthia I loved working on this piece This is my first complex lineless background, and it was very interesting to draw, lots to learn! I was also asked to design her armor, which I was really excited about, I love doing that Lynthia is a holy paladin, and here she is teaching a non-visible audience of students how to cast a healing spell

This piece was certainly a challenge and I think that was just what my commissioner wanted to give me, so thank you! XD Normally, I don't upload pieces in this resolution publically, but he wanted to share the details, so there you go

Not interested in enabling the critique option, but if anyone has any tips regarding the background, please share But please be kind, I just popped my cherry XD

Maybe would have extended the canvas out to draw the whole lamp, and then cut it in half or something. The bushes look a little flat, but otherwise, wish I was brave enough to try a lamp in the background lol. Backgrounds are the bane of my existence. x.x

Not sure if I understand you correct here, but why extend the canvas to cut the lamp? Lol yes the lamp was kinda interesting to draw, was debating during the sketching process if I should do it or not, but in the end I opted to go with it for something extra Aw, just keep at it, I used to be pretty horrified by backgrounds aswell

If you extended the canvas, you'd have more room to work with or draw the whole lamp out. I find if I try to draw something, like a lamp, along the edge of the paper, it leans over like that. It was always easier to keep it upright if I had room to sketch the whole thing out and then cut it in half later when I adjusted how big the canvas was. With paper, sometimes I lay another sheet under the first so I can sketch the whole lamp out rather than try and draw it on the edge, if that makes sense.

Indeed I got that part The canvas was actually larger originally, but I use something called Rule of thirds (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of_… ) and prior to cropping the picture, it looked off somehow (square backgrounds always look a bit fishy, in my experience). But indeed the lamp could have been better, I think the angle was the biggest problem I had with it. Perspective is hard XD

They kind of are weird to make, especially if you have organic shapes in there like trees or bushes. How do you do natural with all of these straight lines and perspective? How do you do perspective? How do you draw? idek I just thought it looked like it was sliding over, and figured I'd offer a tip on how to make it stand up straighter. It's fantastic otherwise and better than anything I could do XD
