this photography is very professionally done. It looks very clear and there is artistic value of how you took the picture. As a person who loves photography I can see that you saw the perfect shot and decided to take it. The time of day is either closer to dusk or dawn. This allows for the shadows to give the picture the great expression. I also love the fact that the train is the focus but isn't exactly in the middle. this is very great since the natural instinct is to give a more unique and thoughtful viewpoint. There is only one thing that I don't like. The subject matter. Trains simply don't appeal to me. This isn't attack on you, it just doesn't appeal to me. Now the picture is fantastically executed and if you chosen a nature subject I would of been more enthralled. However, I can recommend this to anyone who appreciates photography and people who like trains. So thank you for letting me review it and please comment if you have any suggestions on future critiques.

The Locomotive, is it 1 of the EMD Passenger Train Locomotives based on a Freight Locomotive?

Yes, this was built as a freight GP40 that NJ Transit purchased secondhand and rebuilt for passenger service.

NJ Transit owned a fleet of 13 GP40P locomotives that had steam generators for passenger service, but which CNJ had purchased with a subsidy from the state on the theory that if they were allowed to abandon commuter service the generators could be ripped out and they could become regular freight units. Instead they were inherited by NJT, which rebuilt them with head-end power generators for modern passenger equipment and redesignated as GP40PH-2 locomotives. That design became the prototype for the rebuild of a larger fleet of former freight GP40s like the one in this photo into GP40PH-2Bs -- an ironic reversal of the GP40P's original intent.

This may sound odd, but the Knuckle Coupler on this Locomotive looks similar to a Tightlock Coupler seen in Britain.
