Description The ocean is not blue. It is gray just like everything else.

One of three illustrations for The Road, by Cormac McCarthy, for a senior lit assignment.
This one bored me the most, but I think I got the atmosphere across well...
I was listening to The Police (Invisible Sun) while drawing this.

I wish I had commented on this sooner -- but regardless of that, I still like the image quite a bit. You did well with the mood, giving it shades of gray and the map just a tad color, unifying with what the subject is holding. I've never read the poem(?), but by your illustrations, it seems like it's quite deep and intriguing
Well done with all of it -- the background, coloring, effects -- everything

Thank you! The Road is actually a novel - one I highly recommend for all readers.
There is a lot of symbolism and thought provoking conflicts throughout the book,
so if you're interested in this picture I insist on reading the book

Really, now?
Haha, well that does seem somewhat tempting -- but seeing as I have a good few books and other things to occupy time with -- probably wouldn't get around to it, pft.
But thanks for the recommendation!
