Sarah Winters had been one of the first sidekicks. As Kid Shroud she had started the Kid Crusaders. Then she went to college to better herself. She retired young and lived a civilian life. Later she became the new Spy Queen and led the Cedar City Furies. It was a wonderful time but short-lived. She hung up the cape and retired again. But she never hung up her faith. Throughout it all, she had believed in God, believed her fight was for the soul of Cedar; that she could make a difference. This is why she became a church youth pastor. She hoped that way she could improve lives, without having to crack skulls. But the more she tried, the more she saw the city crush those she tried to help. Suffering a crisis of faith, she prayed. And what she realised was that there was only one way forward. She had a calling. She had skills and experience others did not. And she could be a force for good. While Shroud is a faithless man, haunted by his treatment at the hands of the church, using the trappings of faith only to put the fear of God into superstitious criminals, Sarah Winters believes in the Lord and she wears a cross to remind her that there is no greater sacrifice than laying down your will for the betterment of the lives of others.
