Sotaris is a dead world. Its entire populace perished millennia ago. They died screaming, their peaceable ways brought to an end when a nearby star went supernova. Thankfully they were an advanced race. They built a machine capable of manipulating gravity and attached it to a craft capable of circumnavigating the pull of the ensuing black hole. The entire civilisation boarded it in the hopes of escape. In the end though, it did not matter. There was a flaw with the gravity manipulation drive. Gravity was not folding in on itself. The ship didn't jump through space as it should have. All died. All but one. He climbed into a stasis pod and jettisoned himself into the vacuum. He did this moments before the cataclysm that killed all of his species. At the moment of his departure he had been a nobody, nothing more than an engineer. When he awoke, he did so as a god. See, there was a good reason the ship did not manipulate gravity the way it should've. The drive was not broken...it was gone. It had been stolen. The man who stole it had been telling them for years now of what he knew. He was an engineer for deep space probes and he had seen the signs. He warned them, but they did not listen. And he was smart, smarter than all of them. And he would not die with a people too stupid to face their own demise head on. He took the drive and let them perish. Then he fled to the stars. As he did so he passed through cosmic storms and seas of radiation, all the while the gravity manipulation drive in hand, even as he slumbered in stasis. When he crash-landed on an alien world, he now had the ability to manipulate gravity at will. He could alter gravity's effect on him, making him fly. He could also use gravitational fields to create forcefields around himself. He could pin others to the earth or send them into the air. With these newfound powers, he became the ruler of the planet he found himself on. Forming an army of terrified warriors, he began a conquest of galaxies, claiming ever more worlds as a part of his eternally expanding kingdom. His true name long since lost, even to himself, the being now known only as the General has set his sights on Earth.
