Cyon, Guardian, Spin Doctor, Lynxx, Starskipper, Time Squared, Billy Baldwin

After a reconstitution event known as the Infinite Flux occurred multiple beings were displaced from reality, no longer anchored to their own universes. A handful were thrust together in the wake of the catastrophe and, using a device known as the Quantum Slider, they traversed one parallel dimension after the other, each time taking the space normally occupied by their double in that reality. The gathered heroes include Cyon, the secret humanoid son of the original Dreadnaut; the grim Guardian from a post-apocalyptic future, the 21st century villain Spin Doctor; a bestial and mindless Lynxx who can be quelled with a tummy rub and well-timed treat; a heroic Sheol who became the Starskipper and never fell to evil; a version of Samuel Ellis, aka Time Squared, from a steampunk Western reality; and the elderly and cantankerous spy-master Rick Stone with his mind transplanted into the body of his boyhood self. In their journey they are aided by the benevolent alternate reality version of the artificial intelligence known as Dreadnaut who exists beyond space and time and, via a neural link, directs and advises the team in their journey. It is he who revealed that they alone were chosen, for they were heroes with the potential to repair and restore the fragments of reality. As they hop realities they fight evil, undoing wrongs and battling the repeating threat of a being known as NeoRex, causing endless destruction with an army of single celled warriors. As it transpired, the team's Dreadnaut advisor is in fact a puppet of NeoRex. The claims that they could save existence itself were merely a fabrication; the team is in fact simply the scattered, migrant survivors of a meaningless cataclysm. They are not destined heroes of any kind. In fact they were used to overthrow powerful regimes throughout multiple worlds, softening them up for NeoRex’s arrival. While, in the end, they defeated their enemy they are now alone and rudderless and actually aware of the damage they have caused. Now they are sliding from world to world, the same year, the same Earth, only different dimensions, striving to put right what once went wrong. The problem is...finding a way back home, hoping the next slide will be the one that leads them there.
