Oh yeah, fan art... I still do that, don't I? X3Yes, I realised how little I've done works like this since I made my new channel, but even though I want to put more time and focus into my own stories, I'll try to fit some time in to draw fan art of games, TV shows, or films and such.
By the way, if you're wondering what's up with Mario and Peach's clothes, take a look at their sprites in the NES game, "Super Mario Bros."

I remember being introduced to the original Super Mario Bros. thanks to Super Mario All-Stars on the SNES (I was too young for the NES), and it quickly became a favorite game of mine. This work brings back memories. Good memories.

I find this funny. I was introduced to Super Mario Bros. the same way and my sister actually managed to beat The Lost Levels while I couldn't yet I could beat Super Godzilla

My poor brain cannot hold up to this awesomeness and nostalgia. Mario first used a hammer, then an axe, at the final he decided to go unarmed with his jumping ability. Looking at this art shows me how much time I've spent for the badass Mario.
Why there is such a big hole in the castle? Did Bowser throw that many hammers and fireballs at the wall?XD

I especially love, once again, the shading as if you used a paintbrush. How did you create this effect? I really wish to make shading like that!

Thank you! I just used a standard fuzzy round paintbrush in Photoshop with the Flow meter set to a mid-percentage; say 60-80%.
To be honest, I don't remember exactly how I did it because it's been a long time since I did this kind of shading.

This is really cool. I like how you used the sprite colors. You also really captured the feeling of Bowser's frustrated anger panic at being bested by this no-name plumber.

You mean the contrast between their modern-coloured hair/skin and retro-coloured clothing, as well as the modern-coloured Bowser?
That was intentional.
I wanted to establish this is the first time Mario saved Princess Peach from Bowser by having them wear the same clothes from the first Super Mario Bros.
The reason they have modern-coloured hair/skin is because it would make more sense when you look at the franchise as a whole (in other words, it's pretty inconsistent for Mario to be tan with light brown hair and Peach with red hair in the old days, and for Mario to have white skin and dark brown hair and Peach with blonde hair in the modern days. So I basically changed the colour scheme to suit the consistency accordingly).

I am loving the -bridge? Yes, it is done quite well. Interesting backdrop. I myself wouldn't have thought of anything but pitch blackness. Peach dangling by the rope is a good way to put her in even though it is game inaccurate. I'm impressed by Bowser, who is always hard to draw right.
