So my next Create character introduction is up a week after it should've been. But whatever, it turned out awesomely! So this friends is Gypsy, my fursona! Hope you're comfortable because her backstory is super-long. When I first joined DisneyCreate in 2010, I could barely draw anything decently, let alone draw humans. This was a bummer for me because I wanted to have some sort of self-portrait so I wouldn't just be the girl with the Lightning McQueen icon. But there was an artist there named Nature1401 who more often than not represented herself as a wolf named Nature (and she did some of the cutest art ever let me tell you). So I thought "maybe I should do something like that...". I decided that, instead of a wolf, I would represent myself as a fox, because I have red hair and am vertically challenged Her only distinguishing mark for a while was her ponytail, but I later added a silver lightning bolt on her shoulder. The bolt was a nod to the fact that a few of my favorite characters wear a similar mark -- Lighting McQueen's "lucky sticker" was the main source of inspiration, though Bolt rocks it as his "mark of power" and Wilbur Robinson wears it on his shirt the entirety of Meet The Robinsons. So I had fun drawing her for everything, but as time passed, I started getting better and better at humans and various human cartoon styles like Phineas & Ferb and Powerpuff Girls and started to use her less to represent me. Then one day, I got a letter from my fan and awesome artist Valeuh01, who drew a picture of her aveswolf fursona Jewel and wrote "... and she wants to be your fursona's friend!" to which I said out loud "What fursona?". And that's when it clicked; this fox character really WAS a fursona, an animal version of me! So that day in 2011, I wrote Valueh01 back and reintroduced my fox character as Gypsy, my fursona. In that drawing I gave her longer hair, more refined features, and stuck the lightning bolt on both shoulders instead of just the one. The name "Gypsy" was actually the name of my "carsona" in the Cars MMORPG World Of Cars, it's not only a pretty name but it would further link me to my love of the Cars series. Ultimately, I've changed her a bit even since then. Fursonas on Create seemed to fall into two categories: they were either an animal version of you or they were just a cool animal mascot. I decided Gypsy would ultimately be a little of both sort of, she would be like me enough that we could be best friends, but she would be uniquely herself as well. And ahh that new drawing is so amazing I can't get over how cute it is!! Shoutout to Jewel, Maui, Roxy, and the rest of my fursona friends and their creators (Valeuh01, Hey746, and BabyRuth2001)!
