OK so anybody remember this show? Came on after 3-2-1 Penguins on Qubo Saturday mornings a decade ago. I got into it partly because, at the time, it wasn't long since I'd first seen Cars and I was newly-obsessed with auto racing, and partly because I usually enjoy stories about anthropomorphic animals. It's one of those obscure shows I really think need a reboot, because not only is it a cute, visually appealing idea, but it has some pretty clever writing and comedy elements. Yeah, the writing overall could've used some work, but it was nonetheless a fun little show. And if anyone does decide to reboot it, I need to be on the writing/story team! I've been coming up with ideas for quite a while

Anyway, as for the drawing itself. Last summer I did a redraw of a 2009 TD fanart of mine, and the end result turned out so nicely, I decided it was worth cleaning up digitally. If the characters look a bit different than their canon designs, that was intentional. I was designing this as more of a reboot concept than trying to draw them verbatim. Also I didn't use any reference on the original drawing. I decided to play some more with the colors, since I need practice with that anyway. A great palette by NixieSeal made all the difference in the final result. Only a couple of the final colors were not directly from the palette.

Now a quick rundown of each character, and some of their redesign updates! Left to right:
Loyal, slightly-naive goofball Stinkbert got a fluffier tail and more evidence of his grit and grime on his coat. He actually has a white coat, if you can believe that, so I wanted to make him look believably dirty. His fluffy tail had to do with this one episode where he had a royal lookalike named King Golden Retriever, and I decided maybe this mutt should have some retriever in his blood (because I do not get where that name came from otherwise).
Energetic, modest, team-player Dash is pretty unchanged, but I added a couple extra brown spots on his tail and ear, and a slight "goatee" for extra personality.
Independent, unabashedly girly music fan Mags also got a fluffier tail and lost the ponytail holders that gave her ears a pigtail feel.
Shy, less-than-confident repairdog GT is a lot shorter. I forgot he was a little more of a bulldog than a pug, but I kinda like the breed change. Also added some more brown.
Overconfident, egotistical trickster Strut (my fave hehe) is now fuzzier in general (kind of a longhaired dachshund) and has a cool streak in his "hair"
