Thanks! The great thing about these little scenes is there's always a story behind it, and it's up to the viewer to decide what it is. It don't matter. Just let your imagination run wild.

Oh goodness!
"these warm, cheerful slice-o'-life commissions."
It's the little details that really help bring this image to life. Between the cake batter being splattered on Pinkie, to the very bright outside, to the details on the instruments, don't think I didn't see that Easter Egg of a milk jar there Mr. Wizard, to Pinkie sprinkling the sprinkles on with her mane, you brought this scene to life in the best way possible!

Thanks! This one was actually a little bit daunting, just for the sheer volume of detail, the intricate lighting, and knowing I had to get it done quick enough to have time to work on "Winter" (to say nothing of the two-week mad dash to get "A Pony Kind of Christmas" done). But that's the thrill of it, I suppose.
We may never know how Pinkie acquired that milk.

Whew! It worked!
Ah!
Say! Maybe you can help me. See I was on my way to the store because I ran out of milk, and on the way I thought, "Why not get some super duper special milk because these cupcakes we're making need to be super duper special!" So I searched for a place where they have some amazing milk on hand, and I found this place! Do you have any milk...
Pleeeeeaaaase?
Hut! Hoi! Heeyah! Aaaaaaaaaah!
Thanks! I appreciate it!
*Receives the Lon Lon Milk bottle.
Take care!
Now let's finish those cupcakes!

Why, thank you! I believe I started sketching on October thirty first, and was ready to start painting by the day after Thanksgiving, finishing it on December eighth. So roughly thirty eight days of work. It would have been less if I hadn't been working on "Winter" at the same time.

Dude, now you're just showing it off now, how amazing you are with watercolor. I have never seen anyone pull off such a level of skill like this, especially with the dynamic lighting. It's really outstanding how realistic and how perfectly the colors blend together to show that sense of lighting.

FROSTING BOMB!! HIT THE DIRT!!!!
Actually, that bit of frosting on Fluttershy's nose is a nod to Rainbow Rocks.

Truth be told, I'd be completely lost without my trusty masking fluid. It probably accounts for half of what I'm able to do.
Thanks very much!

My heart nearly stopped when I first saw the mess that they're making, but the do look so happy and adorable doing it that it won't worry me for too long. Fantastic job bringing the two AL ponies to life, especially those happy expressions. Pinkie Pie's casual yet hard-working attitude really shines, and Fluttershy's whole body shows how carefully she's putting on the sprinkles. Gorgeous work on the kitchen and so many delightfully busy and messy details. Thanks for sharing.

Things are bound to get a little messy when you don't have magic. . . or thumbs. I probably could have stood to push the messiness a bit further.
The kitchen was just as much fun to paint as the characters, and the way that salt texture on the walls turned out is one of my favorite things about this one.
Thanks very much!
