*Angry bughorse noises*Just a silly little idea that came to me about a month ago. Credit is owed to the ever-witty Underpable , whose style I've attempted to emulate here (given the characters and subject matter). The brush and ink outlines were probably the most challenging aspect, as it had been a few years since I'd done any inking.
Watercolor and ink on Canson Montval 140 lb. cold press paper. Finished : 3/27/18.

Well you are pretty darn good at style emulation then, because I thought deviantart had mixed up the thumbnails when I was looking at my notifications, because this was clearly an Underpable piece.
Love the expressiveness, and how well you seem to be able to translate a digital coloring style into watercolor

I freakin, love how cranky Crissy* is, making her so darned cute yet by making use of her scary face; though her lowered ears and flat mane add to the sense that she has no power here. Oh, and I think Celestia enjoys teasing her more than she enjoys that delicious cake. Chrysalis feeds on love, and apparently Celestia feeds on temper tantrums. (She does have a little sister, after all.) Thanks for sharing the beautiful moment they're not quite sharing themselves.

I actually referenced Luna's grumpy face from "A Royal Problem" for Chrysalis' expression. And yes, Celestia does seem to be enjoying this a little too much.

I layed the ink down after the colors, mostly because it had been so long since I used my ink that I couldn't remember if it was waterproof or not.

Thank you! I can't say it was too difficult, but I'm glad I was able to do it justice.
