My honest opinion? Nothing. I think that it's possible that it's a sort of "bonding" thing in which the real reward is the memories and the time the friends spent together looking for the keys. My guess is also each key will appear when they display each of the elements if you catch my drift. Like an episode for each mane six in which they rediscover what it means to hold that element. So one on Loyalty, Generosity, Kindness, Honesty, Laughter and Magic. That's just my guess but I'm not sure.

I think your theory is the best I've come across perhaps. What if it doesn't appear when they display their respective element, but when they teach it to another pony instead?

Well they'd still be displaying it but yeah it's possible. I am more or less certain that each key represents an Element and likely appears because of such an act, like a true act of honesty/loyalty/kindness/etc. I doubt they'll be like Dragon Balls and require some kind of scavenger hunt.

I have a feeling they (the main six) will start by literally searching for them, but one will appear and they will realize how to actually find them. I could even see Pinkie doing something silly like looking in random jars or under couch cushions.

Assuming that the Mane 6 finding the keys will be the plot arch for the next season, maybe whatever is in the box will provide the plot arch for S5. I'm sure it'll have something to do with the elements (I mean, that's pretty obvious), but what if the object leads them onto a whole new journey?
Since the tree basically foretold the prophecy about Twilight Sparkle and her friends, maybe inside the box will be a new cutie mark and a new prophecy. That would make for a really interesting storyline, one that could keep the show running for a while. We'd learn a lot about Equestria's history, and what it means to be a princess.

or maybe that it revils that twilight is the ultimate princess and was left on a ponys door step to keep her safe from an evil for terrifying then nightmare moon discored and that one changling put together

It'd be interesting if it led to some giant secret, but I don't think it would leave much for the show to continue on. I'm pretty sure it's confirmed that Twilight has parents, but it wouldn't be that surprising if she did eventually reach a higher form of power.

I doubt there's be a new Element, because they've already been established as the higher form of power. A map leading to a new adventure could be very interesting, though. I wouldn't be surprised if it led to one of Equestria's hidden secrets.

No actually cause just look at her. In fact I think based on this, if this is indeed from the episode then I think that mare either IS Daring Do or is related to her. Sure Daring Do is portrayed as a fictional character but what if she is based on a real pony...for lack of better words. Like it was her in her younger days or her sister or something and she's writing about previous exploits you know? Can't be Twilight's mom. Not just cause of her mane and coat color but the eyes are different too. Unless she's a changeling or went to great lengths to mask her appearance there's no way. Those are just my thoughts simply from what I am seeing.

How is that not obvious? Are people still trying to cling to the headcanon that Twilight's mom wrote the Daring Do series simply because she like writing stories of adventure and that Twilight has a copy of every book in the series? Is anyone honestly surprised Twilight has every book in a series? Seriously? And just because she likes writing adventure stories doesn't mean she's THE author. Besides, part of me suspects that this author WAS related to a mare like Daring Do and the new issue is delayed because she's finding it harder to keep bringing back memories. Personally that makes far more sense.

Probably like Season 1 with the Grand Galloping Gala. It was mentioned a few times throughout the season finally leading up to the finale where they were at the Gala.

That's what I mean. But though I wasn't paying attention in the first season, a lot of things happen and each episode have it's own story. It was my first month of MLP and all the episodes of that season are completed.
Still the producers never done something like that before, at least in Season 2 and 3.
Something also tells me, with this new season and new theme, it will concern get fans attention more closely.

I don't know, I can't count on it. Maybe the Hub channel would open a Chinese New Year celebration.
But I know for certain that fans will celebrate crazy for this. Each animal year in the Chinese calendar appear every 12 years, With The Year of the Horse around the corner and with My Little Pony being popular and their Brony fans, I don't see why not.
Back to the box. I don't know how many people, I'm guessing their reaction is like "Awww... Another mystery?! We might as well watch the entire season" but this time closely.
