once again, amazing. I'm just wondering why you decided to use that wallpaperish background? Don't get me wrong it looks funky - just wondering how it has meaning to the peice?(if that makes sense lol)

i thought it was kind of a flattened diorhama-ish kind of feel to a cityscape, so i wanted the sky to not be deep but sort of flat and textural? i guess? plus, i think it looks sweet. i really like filling negative space with pattern. that's probably a much less interesting answer than you had hoped for huh?

no mate.. its kind of helpful - im at uni doing an illustration course and ive started using comupers and stuff, but i'm finding it hard to pull different components into my work... its just totally different creating a composition on a computer to just drawing it... so my mind goes all wobbly hehehe. Ill work on it

woo, Only one light is on.....the scene scare me a bit!
I think...the grain of rain should be detailed a little more.
...mmm but conversely, the detail make me feel perspective. ..like looking out from the window.

ha! well i'm sorry to scare you, but i am glad the perspective works for you. yeah, you're probably right about the rain. maybe there just needs to be more of it? that's what i'm thinking. i'll keep it in mind for next time. thank you very much for the help!

I love the white wispy things, and the floral texture you can barely see Great pic!
(altho, since you used a photo, wouldnt this go under photomanipulation?)

i'm not sure about that. cause i composed the piece myself, drew it out with pencil, and did a lot of stuff with "painting" in photoshop. i would prefer to think of it as photo collage in a painting? but yeah, maybe you're right

Another great one by you, and what can I say that the others haven't?
I see you noticed I featured you in my journal, and I did back in November as well! Here's what I wrote "Half the time when I see this guyβs artwork in thumbnail view, I canβt tell if itβs a drawing or a photo manipulation. His stuff always seems to jump off the page and I find myself staring at the details of his work, wondering how the hell he does it. Go look now."

oh my god. how kickass would it be to design sets for batman? that'd be like a dream come true....almost as good as getting a dd.
and thank you very much of course.

You're definitely improving- the more detail and clarity I see in the structure, the more I like it. However, I would suggest some more rain. It doesn't quite give me the 'rain' feel, yet.

TheABones In reply to lesserknowncallsign [2006-01-13 08:55:53 +0000 UTC]
mm, i was afraid of that. i didn't want there to be so much rain that the details got lost or obscured though. hmmm....thanks for the help though

Yes, I can see where that would be an issue. The key is just to the find the perfect balance, I think.
