Would make an interesting fanfic plot. 'Derpy's Secret' gets out. Chrysalis(who sees Derpy as a traitor) and Celestia(who sees Derpy as an outright threat) want something done with Derpy 'now'. Celestia tries to take Dinky away from Derpy in order to protect her. Chrysalis tries to get to Dinky in an attempt to blackmail/extort Derpy. (The fact that the most powerful ponies/forces are fooled by Derpy can show some hidden power she has.

Oh, maybe THAT'S why her eyes are messed up! The changeling made a mistake! 
Maybe, once upon a time, there was a unique changeling, who had mental problems (not trying to be mean here...) and the others saw her as a mistake. Wanting her kingdom to be pure, Queen Chrysalis banned her from her kingdom. Having to find a new home, she turned into a pony, and since she made a mistake with the eyes, everyone called her Derpy, and the name stuck. This is what I could think of at this sudden moment!

I just love changelings. Heck, I use them in Role Plays so much that people on the site I RP on tend to expect me to use a changeling in every RP I join.
The concept of a changeling raising a non changeling is one I also like to see.

Derpy unfortunately died in the Changeling raid on Canterlot. One lone Changeling came upon the deceased Pegasus's daughter, and stopped when he saw the tears streaming down her face, heard her wails of anguish...
The Changeling disguised himself as the filly's mother and brought her to safety, away from Canterlot. His plan was to bring her to her family or to safety anywhere...
But he couldn't let go.
