Description
Well, this one took some time and effort. This is a commissioned watercolour, and at 9" by 12", it's really quite small - I tried to get the basics of the faces and clothing. Each one of the faces is less than a half-inch wide.Anyway, this is for , who has been kind enough to keep me busy during the slow season. His father is in the front row on the left.

Thanks very much! I was working from a pretty old photo - I believe it's Viet Nam, if I'm not mistaken.

Well it's very good, seeing a photo like this brings back memories of old. And no I never went to war but I have family who did. That's why it's haunting to me. Anyway, I find the picture peaceful yet it's like a eye of a storm. A storm that could of been prevented.

Again, I am stunned All of that on a 9x12!! Wonderfully done and you have managed to capture each man with his own individual features! Beautifully done, my friend.

Wow! Thanks very much! This one took a little extra effort, that's for sure - I think the faces are more or less recognisable as the people in the reference photo. I just about wore out my #00000 brush on this.

Great job with the detail on the faces. It's just enough to really give each face its own structure-- I like that I can make out a pinprick of dark color that implies an iris in the guy on the bottom left's eye area.

Thank you very much! I felt like I needed to give that particular fellow a little extra detail, since he's the father of the fellow who ordered the painting. It was a pretty complicated painting because of the size, but I'm pretty happy with how it worked out.

Thank you so much! It was tricky, but I tried to think of it almost as a mosaic rather than a group of people - I tried basically just to mkae sure I got the right colours in the right places.

Thanks very much! It's a pretty tricky way to paint, but I think I got these guys looking pretty close to the way they do in the reference photo; I tried not to think of them as "faces", but as patches of colour. When I put the patches in the right places, it seemed to work out okay.

Thanks very much! Well, it wasn't so much difficult as time-consuming. I'm a nutter for detail anyway, but when I looked at this one after working on it a bit, I thought, "Gee, parts of this look almost impressionist" like I was doing it wrong or something. XDD

Thank you very much! ^_^ I think the faces were the hardest part - I wanted them to look like the guys in the reference photo, but the size meant that I couldn't get too carried away with detail...
