Description
I finished this one yesterday - it's a whopper at 16" by 20", watercolour commission."Hey, Chris, you're all quiet-like!" Yes, I haven't had much time to be on DA lately, and I apologise. It's been tremendously busy at the gallery - I had to hire on additional help, in fact! Not that I'm complaining.
I'll try to catch up on Deviations and messages as soon as I can.

Don' worry about being too busy, you should be proud of that fact. Why, with paintings like these that also require a detailed background, who can blame you?

Thanks, Z! Yeah, things are going really well - I hired on a young fellow so that we could be open longer hours and I could get more actual painting done. If things keep going like they have, I'll be renting more space for the gallery. They keep saying there's a recession, but I haven't noticed (thankfully).

Thanks very much - this one was rather difficult, but I enjoyed painting it right up until I got to her face. It took me eight hours and I'm still not entirely pleased with it. "Good enough" is not something I tell myself very often...

Thank you so much! ^_^ Her face was easily the hardest part of this painting - she had a very unusual expression in the reference photo, and since the reference was black and white with heavy shadows, it was hard to translate that properly into the painting. I'm so glad you think I did well with it!

Very - I've hired a young man to come in and help with organising things and keeping the gallery open on days when it's normally closed. I discovered that the day-to-day operations were taking too much time away from painting - I'd be hoovering and paying bills and "tidying up" when I should have been getting actual work done, so now I'm behind on commission work.
There are lots of gallery photos in my Scraps.

Thanks very much! I was surprised at what a breeze the car was! The hardest part of this one was the young lady's face - even though the painting is large, the faces were quite small, and getting detail enough in there to make them recognisable was pretty difficult.

That's a beautiful piece of work! You captured the people very well. You were able to show the planes and contours of the car without a great deal of space to do it in! Looks very good!
