Alright i've seen it all:
- Humans fantasizing about a parasitic monstrosity falling in loveΒ
*Check*
This is why I basically live by my tagline on this website... UGHHHHH

lol I'd like to retort by saying this is a scientific exploration of the dangers of the flood extracting the best qualities of humanity and corrupting to benefit their own ilk, designed for the bolstering of UNSC Anti-Flood measures. But I think it's more of a result of teenaged "edginess" mixed with Breaking Benjamin and Evanescence.Β

Human what are you on about? I wouldn't be surprised if the flood have taken control of your mind and are forcing you to type this convoluted mess, the flood don't desire love... they desire to consume anything that can love.

lol allow me, noble son of Sangheilos, to detail my going theory. I believe the appropriate human colloquialism for my consideration of the parasite would be "Playing with fire." But a thought occurs to me that by his very nature the Gravemind itself is a glutton, starved to gloat and lusting for knowledge and biomass. True it is guided by a parasitic desire to infect, but beyond that very little is known about what is likely the most dangerous organism in all of space; moreso even than the deluded wheezes of your former prophets who nearly led you to extincting my people. (No hard feelings, I'm sure) So to that end, I figured it was essentially vital to understand a threat that the great Rtas Vadum himself warned could end civilization but with a single spore.
They start out mindless more or less, leading me to wonder how much they retain between their height in the age of the Forerunner and their current incarnation. But regardless, in their earliest stage, they seek out bodies and act much like simple animals with an echoed knowledge from their victim on how to operate machinery. But that impulsive beast soon somehow develops into a single thinking persona that's able to out talk and out-coordinate entire armies. After viewing the following video I began to wonder about how this "Gravemind" comes to be. WARNING: the following video is deeply disturbing and likely highly classified by ONI as it's no doubt been extracted from a Captain's Neural Lace after infection. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KInqN⦠Note the way the flood voices go from disjointed and fractured sentences to complete even taunting ones. After observing this I had to ask myself, what if the Flood seek out strong minds to lead them? What if the infection process all but ruins the minds they claim to own and the only way for them to get smarter is to fine a strong willed member of the species they're consuming to act like a template for them to build a mind off of. In the case of Captain Keyes, his sense of duty could not be consumed and continued to fight until its destruction, but other aspects of the man fell in droves.
What if, the personality of the Gravemind is reflective of what dominant mind is the catalyst in their creation? For Keyes, since his tactical and dutiful mind held, the Gravemind would be a gross bastardization of his more ego driven side, all traits of him that it could claim; which would explain its ego driven if not foolish choices in the battles before its destruction on the Ark. If that was the case, and the Gravemind was indeed a monument to all of our sins (or perhaps even by nature of it's own origins the worst easiest to corrupt traits of whoever it claimed, given knowledge and form) then if it did any manner of self reflection as humans tend to do, and thought of its End Game after it consumed the universe or sentient life, the idea of what next would prove unpalatable as there would be no one other than its "self"Β to pay homage to it's perceived greatness. The Concept of a partner to it then I'd assume, would be a natural progression to it. The idea of a "lover" comes from the idea that if it IS indeed a reflection of the species it corrupts, then it would at its core have their best traits within itself, as a part of its warped psyche to warp and explore in its own horrific way. Love, family, working together are some of humanity's strongest suits, and is terrifying to imagine how it could be weaponized by the parasite. This concept and the related content was an exploration of that worry/possibility.

I am not a stereotype human do not treat me as such, I appreciate the long explanation and theory and do agree with what you say to an extent as it makes some sense, apologies for the slight hostility but initially a reasonable being has hardly any way to recognize this meaning from your picture, even if that is not your motive; I still find it disturbing.

Certainly not! I mean no offense, and Rtas is a personal favorite of mine so believe me when I assure you that respect is genuine. No ill will is bore on my behalf from your words as I'm aware it's taken some time for age to create that wisdom to catch up to what I tried to illustrate in youth.

Ah, anymore I almost can't stand 343's content. I think they're a tumor on what was a great franchise.
