One thing I noticed in the past season is that we never really got to see the Cutie Mark Crusaders use the abilities of their type of pony; we don't really see Scootaloo fly, we don't see Sweetie Belle do magic, and Applebloom... still not sure what's special about an earth pony other than some vague notion that they have some innate magical bond with the earth? I dunno.I was looking for an excuse to draw a dangerously adorable humanized Sweetie Belle. She has grown to become my favorite Cutie Mark Crusader so that became pretty much obligatory. Then it dawned to me; why would Rarity try and teach her sister some magic if she can ask the most gifted magician is Ponyville to show her the ropes. Also, it makes for dorky-Twilight, which is always the preferred mode of Twilight.
So here's Sweetie Belle starting out with some basic telekinesis.
I'm also planning to do one with Scootaloo and Applebloom.

i really like the coloring job, but most of the picture, ESPECIALLY twilight's face, is REALLY bothering me..

I think the CMC are still a little young to be actively practising their abilities - I mean, they were just learning about "cutie marks" a few months ago.
And I never want Scoots to fly - her little baby wings are soooooooo cute!

Of course, this is all fan speculation, probably to the point of over-analysis (but that's what a fandom does).
Young unicorns are shown to have magical capabilities, for instance, Snails is able to use magic to create a light source. Besides, Sweetie Belle is barely able to move a simple coat hanger, which takes all her might, it's far from full blown telekinesis. It's magic 101, just getting a basic grasp on what magic actually is. She probably won't be able to do any meaningful magic until she figures out what her special talent is.

Snips and Snails being able to magic is just adding insult to injury for Sweetie Belle. That those morons are able to do something she can't.

One could argue that Snips and Snails, particularly Snails, are older and thus more likely to have developed magic skills. Snails' physique suggests that he's undergoing a growth spurt.
Of course, another option is that Sweetie Belle will be a late bloomer and will master some impressive magic skills in the future.

Yeah but I still hate them, there's only so much stupidity I can stand and those two buffoons can reach my quota with only three seconds of screen time. Also while I don't really care for the Greatly Irrelevant Trixie, the biggest thing the town hated her for was THEIR fault. So she became a scapegoat for a crime those morons committed.

I think you're spot on - there's basic cantrips that a unicorn foal can do (and possibly all grown-up unicorns can do them as well) but they never progress past a certain low level. Their cutie mark channels that magic ability to their special talent.

This is just fantastic. Ya know, all this talk of Sweetie Belle and magic and how good she is at singing has given me an awesome idea. What if she could use her magic THROUGH her singing? Eh?

This was hypothesized during the stream. Since it's obvious by now that singing is her special talent, her magic is bound to be related somehow. This picture is pretty much the idea that young unicorns go through some basic training to get a grasp on basic magic like telekinesis, but like in Rarity's case, her special abilities might emerge out of nowhere.

That is dangerously adorable alright.
I love your humanizations of the cast, they maintain their prettiness while still being entirely unique in face and their manner of dress. I'd say Twilight with glasses is too much, but they just look so good on her.

Love the concept! Adore the poses! They fit so well, Rarity looking on and Twilight gently guiding her, sort of like letting go of the bike seat and letting her ride without training wheels. You pulled that off VERY nicely!

They don't need their powers because sweetie belle can sing,applebloom is a room makeover...person...and scootalo has mad skillz at the scooter! They don't need their powers for their talents unlike other ponies.(Rarity,twilight,and fluttershy)

While I do agree that the Cutie Mark Crusaders have pretty much displayed their special talents, I do think that they're lacking their species' specific abilities. For unicorns, I imagine that they are being taught very basic magic like telekinesis of small objects and creating a light source, while pegasi are sent to flight school. It's much like how humans learn their offspring to swim.

There is an allusion that pegasi have to learn how to fly, seeing as they go to flight school. For my next picture, I'd like to have Rainbow Dash teach her the first basics, the question is how I'll go about showing that.

From what I've been able to determine just by watching the show, earth ponies seem to be somewhat tougher physically than the other two. It would make sense . . . pegasus ponies spend most of their time on their wings rather than using their legs and might have lighter bones, and unicorn ponies are used to using their magic rather than their muscles to do things. Applejack and Pinkie Pie do seem to be the sturdiest of the main characters in their own particular ways, and Rainbow Dash alone might be more physically active than they are.

Yea, the main feat of earth ponies seems to be their strength, especially when you consider that a mere four earth ponies were able to continuously pull a decently sized train.
Still, it's going to be somewhat of a challenge to visualize this when I get to Applebloom's "training montage".
